Day 2 in Atlanta with @perfectgameusa delivered.

The @sjcbaseball Cadets 15U battled @banditosbaseball Elite 2029s in what felt like a playoff game from the first pitch to the final out. They turned a double play on us that’s gone viral. We answered by going yard.

The game ended in a tie, and nobody was satisfied with that—but it was probably the most competitive game we’ve played all summer. The dugout never stopped talking, the energy never faded, and every pitch mattered.

I’m excited to see the boys build on it and bring the same energy to today’s game. Let’s GO Cadets!

Baseball season is back! This weekend was a friendly between mostly @sjcbaseball sophomores (white) and freshmen (black). It turned out the way you’d think it would but not without the new class bringing plenty of hustle and some swimming around the tags while we got buzzed by the airshow spilling out of Joint Base Andrews. Love watching these boys play!

Day 4 in Atlanta for the @perfectgameusa WWBA Championship.

We can always count on home runs to bring out the emotion.

Reflections, shadows, stretched-out catches, and plenty of baseballs through the gaps.

The @sjcbaseball Cadets put together a complete game this morning in Northwest DC, rolling to a 10–1 win over the API Cavaliers.

Day 5/Last Day in Atlanta for the @perfectgameusa WWBA Championship.

The boys finished the summer with some great baseball—including a gorgeous double play—and I came away with some of my favorite images of the tournament.

Turns out 100° Georgia heat and bone-dry dirt make for incredible baseball photos. Every slide told a story. Sometimes the heat you’ve cursed all week gives you exactly what you came for.

See you next season. ⚾📸

Not every game is measured by the final score. Sometimes it’s measured by the months of work most people don’t see. The rehab. The frustration. The extra reps. The days when things don’t seem to be improving, but you keep showing up anyway.

Yesterday brought a few reminders that hard work eventually leaves clues. It’s worth it to keep working and trust the process. And along the way, dammit it’s fun to smash the ball!

Love these home tournaments! Defense ruled today, including some epic plays in the outfield.

The final day in Richmond featured plenty of fireworks as the 15U Cadets erupted offensively to close out the #MAPI26 tournament capped by a @tnthrasher_40 home run, and the 16U squad battled to the final out before falling in a walk-off, semi final heartbreaker to the would-be tournament champs.

Diving plays, hard slides, loud dugouts, and teammates picking each other up all weekend long. Wins and losses come and go, but the intensity these young men brought to the field all weekend was impossible to miss. Always fun watching them bring their A game. Thanks to @prepbaseballvadc for another great event.
