POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Revisiting a Q&A panel I did at one of my favorite film festivals I’ve been a part of. 🎬✨

The Mirala Film Festival does such an incredible job of highlighting female and underrepresented filmmakers and giving our stories a space to be seen and celebrated.

And to make the experience even more special, my film Inheriting Hood took home Best Experimental Short Film! 🏆

Forever grateful for spaces that champion filmmakers and stories that deserve to be seen. ❤️🎥

Pulling permits can be so hard to do with the complicated process FilmLA has. I even had a filmmaker friend tell me a permit officer came out on their production and was being a stickler on what they can and can’t do. What a nightmare!

But a city not too far from LA is permit friendly and has a more simplified process. It’s called Huntington Beach!

My 30-page script was shot in just TWO DAYS. 🎬

A secret production hack? Shoot exteriors in the winter. ❄️

In California, winter can be a filmmaker’s best friend: softer, cloudier light creates natural diffusion, and the sun sits lower in the sky; meaning less lighting equipment, fewer setups, and a crew that can MOVE.

Less gear. Less time fighting the sun. More pages in the can.

Small budget. Big production. 🎥

MíraLA is more than a film festival… it’s an ecosystem built to amplify women’s voices. 🎬✨

What began as one woman’s vision has grown into MíraLA Media, the MíraLA Film Festival, the MíraLA Podcast, and a growing network of filmmakers, creatives, founders, and supporters.

Through storytelling, meaningful conversations, community events, and filmmaker resources, we’re creating more opportunities for women to be seen, heard, supported, and funded.

No major studio. No corporate backing. Just consistency, community, and an unwavering belief in women-led storytelling.

This is what we’re building ✨ and we’re only getting started.

Watch. Listen. Create. Connect.

Partner with MíraLA. Support women-led stories. Join our network.

Look at her. 💜
