❄️ SUNDANCE SPOTLIGHT ❄️

Mateo Nossa’s score for THE MUSICAL fuses classic Hitchcock-era orchestral suspense with modern synthesizers, using bold character themes and propulsive energy to externalize the film’s psychological tension and emotional stakes.

THE MUSICAL premieres January 25 at 12:00pm the Eccles Theater.

There are 10 films in this years Sundance dramatic competition, and I was extremely fortunate to be able to mix the BEST (I may be biased) film on the list, The Musical, directed by Giselle Bonilla ( @locanilla ). The Musical is a hilarious dark comedy with a killer soundtrack by Mateo Nossa ( @mateonossa ) and I’m really proud of all the work we put into this one. Rounding out the team was Bobbi Banks on dialogue, Alex Parker on fx and Amanda Zohar as our technical Pro Tools genius, so I guess we just brought out the audio All-Stars for this jam. Excited for everyone to experience, “The super power of the theater…”

Premiering Jan 25th at Park City’s last Sundance.

Below is the list of challengers for movie battle 2026. Good luck everyone!

1. The Musical
2. Take Me Home
3. Bedford Park
4. Carousel
5. Hot Water
6. Union County
7. Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!
8. The Friend’s House Is Here
9. Run Amok
10. Josephine
