Our Ladies Brewery Ride is Sunday ☀️

Our final event of the season is this weekend, and we can’t believe the weather in store for it! Full day of sunshine, plus fall colours at their peak - could it get any better?! 🍂🍁

There’s still a few spots left for our Ladies Brewery Ride on Sunday, register now to secure yours 🔒 This is a ride meant for meeting new friends, solo signups are welcome!

Bring your own bike and ride a total of 18km while visiting 3 PEC breweries that serve local beer, wine, and more. This is a trail based ride, the only time you’ll be on a road is when crossing it! A beverage at each stop is included (does not have to be beer). 🍻

Check out our bio for registration link.

We’re open for tours and rentals until November 1st!

I’m excited (this is a massive understatement, btw!) to welcome writer and translator @jencalleja_ to Bloomfield on Wednesday, October 21. Jen will be in conversation with writer Stuart Ross to celebrate the launch of her new book, Fair: The Life–Art of Translation.

If you’re a regular at the bookshop, you’ll know how much I care about translation in literature, so I am beyond thrilled to be hosting this event. I hope you’ll join us for what is certain to be a brilliant conversation between two incredible writers.

Jen Calleja is a poet, writer, and essayist. She has been shortlisted for the Man Booker International Prize, the Oxford-Weidenfeld Prize, and the Schlegel-Tieck Prize as a literary translator from German into English, and was the inaugural Translator in Residence at the British Library. She is also the author of Goblinhood, Vehicle, and Dust Sucker.

Stuart Ross is a poet, writer, and editor who has published 23 books of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. He won the 2023 Trillium Book Award for The Book of Grief and Hamburgers, and his writing has been translated into French, Spanish, Nynorsk, Slovene, Estonian, and Russian.

Wednesday, October 21 at 6pm at Matron Fine Beer, 65 Barkers Lane, Bloomfield. Free, no registration required, and everyone is welcome!

On October 24, The Commissary gets stuffed with seriously good food, local pours and plenty of fall-in-the-County energy.

Your $35 ticket gets you a flavour passport to taste your way through offerings from all of our Commissary kitchens, plus one special returning guest. Make your way through the lineup, one stuffed bite at a time.

Then it’s time for the beer.
Prince Eddy's, Matron, Slake, All My Friends and Loch Mor Cider Co. will each have their own stall along the boardwalk, pouring their favourite beers and ciders, along with merch and other goodies to browse. Throughout the day, the makers will also be hosting talks, giving you a chance to hear more about the people, places and stories behind your pour.

Grab a full pour, settle into the beer garden and stay for live music and all the good stuff that comes with a fall afternoon at The Commissary.

Two seatings: 12–2 PM or 4–6 PM
October 24 | $35
Get your passport before they’re gone.
