Starting your own thing can be scary. And lonely. And then, we host an event to showcase what we’re building…and it sells out. Women showing up for other local women who have started their own businesses can matter even more than any paycheck. This is what we do at Rising FoundHers and Rising Kitchens. We build community around those who bet on themselves. You never have to build alone.

What a great night surrounded by so many inspiring women, getting to share all of our midlife woes, talking all about what changes both inside and outside of our bodies and how to advocate for ourselves and the people we love. Thank you @risingkitchens for hosting such a beautiful event, @cartisancarts for the amazing cheese spread, @matte.porcelain for the beautiful jewelry and my new favorite necklace, and of course @fortiva.wellness for being such an incredible doc to partner with for this talk! And thank you to all the Rising Foundhers and the women in our community who came and made this night so special!

One of the best parts of Rising Kitchens is our “bundling” option. Through one vendor, you access multiple chefs, multiple cuisines and multiple food experiences. Last night, a customer bundled @theculinarycurate (founded by Charmaine DaCosta) and @cerealdreams (founded by Anne Mandell). There’s nothing we love more than seeing talented chefs shine side by side. More opportunities for entrepreneurs. More memorable experiences for customers.

Stop trying to sell to everyone! Seriously! When you’re creating something you love, it’s so easy to slip into the mindset of, ‘Well, I love this, so my perfect customer must be exactly like me!’ But as we discussed in our latest episode, building a scalable business means looking beyond your own reflection. Your ideal client isn’t just any ideal client—they are uniquely yours. The magic happens when you lock down exactly who they are, where they hang out, and what they need. When you get specific: —Marketing becomes easier —Selling feels natural, not forced. —Pricing feels right You stop shouting into the void and start speaking directly to the people who are already hyped for what you do. If you’ve ever taken it a little personally when someone doesn’t vibe with your aesthetic, this episode is the gentle reality check and strategy session you need. Let’s stop trying to please everyone and start connecting with the right ones. In our latest episode, we sat down with Carrie Norin, founder of Matte Porcelain Design. Carrie made a massive identity shift from a Type A academic evolutionary biologist to a solo ceramic artist. She shared a concept that completely blew us away: Wabi-Sabi. Wabi-Sabi is all about embracing the beauty of imperfection, blemishes, and organic asymmetry. But here is the fascinating twist when it comes to working with matte porcelain—if you want that signature, buttery-smooth luxury feel, you actually have to perfect the imperfection. It takes intense precision, hand-sculpting, and meticulous sanding to make an imperfect form feel absolutely flawless. It’s like running a business. You can intentionally design and build a lifestyle business that your family, protects your specific imperfections, and embraces the beautiful, organic twists and turns of the entrepreneurial journey. Want to learn how Carrie went from high-stress commuting to running an intentional, high-end wholesale brand? This group. Rising FoundHers. Part of the Rising brand that brings hyperlocal women founders together - in person - to strategize, advise…and laugh. Today’s topic: Pricing. How do you price your work? How do you explain your value to customers? What are your pricing dilemmas? Tough questions. Easier (and more fun!) to solve with a supportive group of peers.
