My final concert my freshman year was a success! I officially performed my first Oratorio, R. Nathaniel Dett’s “The Ordering of Moses,” with Symphony Orchestra back in April. It was a lovely experience, and I hope to have many more like it!

Final special thank you to my section and to Maddie for being a wonderful section and principal to learn from all semester!

Repertoire:
Violin Concerto by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor
The Ordering of Moses by R. Nathaniel Dett

I hope to play with Symphony Orchestra again while at IU! It has been such an amazing experience and has taught me so much already. Until next year!

I finished my final master’s recital! This was one of the last requirements for my degree, and I’m so relieved to be done, but also proud of what I accomplished. For those who are close to me, you know that this degree has been a challenge in ways I couldn’t have anticipated, but I’ve made it through, and I am so grateful for all the support from my friends and family.

I would be remiss if I did not thank my teachers. To Professor Eban @elieban, thank you so much for everything you have done to lift me up during this degree. I cannot express how much your support has meant to me. To Sam Rothstein @thecandidclarinetist, thank you for stepping up to help me and the rest of the studio when we really needed it. I learned so much from you, and you really were an important part of my growth as a musician and person in preparation for this recital.

Thank you to Yi-Hsuan Su @whity__312 and Pei-Wen Liao @peiwen_vocalpianist on piano! I had such a great time collaborating with you guys, and I am glad to call you both friends and colleagues. Also, I can’t forget Adam Blayney @a_blayn_ . Thank you for suggesting such a wonderful piece to finish my recital. I will always remember how fun it was to make music together this semester.

Finally, I have to acknowledge my grandfather. A few days after my recital, my grandfather passed away suddenly. I am so grateful for his support at so many of my concerts throughout my life. I choose to see it as a gift that so many of my family members, including him, were at my recital and had one last weekend together. The pictures from my recital, taken by Hailey Guerra @haileydawngue, mean more to me now than they already did. Thank you for capturing those moments.
