Today’s the day! Cold and the Feeling is out for all to hear! The whole process of creating this album has been so rewarding beginning to end… especially because I’ve been lucky to have the most intentional people contribute to it. Story time :)….

I started recording this album at Quilted Fish Records on Nov 21st last year where I also recorded my last two albums. @mikeformenti engineered each recording session and provided such a comfortable place to explore. The space and deliberate thought he offered was everything.
I started off tracking by myself, playing guitar, upright bass, dobro, and electric guitar.
@sophia.mando was the next to come into the studio to record all of the twinkling mandolin and octave mandolin.
@lucykfiddle followed her and tracked fiddle alllll over the songs. It was so good that all of the songs just had to have it.
@abbygoodmanmusic worked her banjo magic once again.
I then went up to Portland when I was on tour with @two.runner and met up with the most sensitive and tasteful drummer @dannyaustinmanning to record drums at his home.
I sent the files to dear friend @willpavs who recorded the arco upright bass on a handful of songs.
I then recorded final vocal takes back home and had the angel of all angels @gilliangrogan come sing on most of the songs. @aleladiane blessed us with her voice on a couple. @paperwingsmusic (one of my fav bands ever) sang some sweet sweet harmonies on a song. The biggest gift was having my dear @kylie.slevin sing on one of them.

In January I hopped in my car and drove up to Portland to spend a handful of days with the thoughtful @samwebermusic to mix these songs. I had the bestest time eating burritos, looking over his shoulder, talking about feeling and technicality. I learned so much from him… not only is he a wondrous human but a fantastic musician andddd also chef.

Popped back down the coast to master the songs with @mikeformenti where we landed in the final master on Feb 21st… exactly 3 months after the first recording session.

My sister @rosalawsonn painted the cover art while she was down in school. @matthewconrardy hand painted the text over the art work shortly after.
