Men need your help.
Tag your local MS and demand action. 💚

We keep telling men, “It’s okay to talk.” But when a man does speak up, the right support needs to be there for him. We cannot put all the responsibility on men and leave them struggling to find help.

Movember’s new report shows that 6,793 men in Wales died before turning 75 in 2024. Suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 50. These figures affect partners, children, friends and whole communities.

Wales has a Women’s Health Plan, and rightly so. Men deserve the same serious attention. We need a dedicated, funded Men’s Health Plan for Wales that reaches men earlier and backs the services and community groups they turn to.

Tag your local Member of the Senedd and ask them: will you back this plan, and what will you do to make it happen?

A proud few days for MenTribe 💚

On Friday, MenTribe founder Callum was invited by @movember_uk to speak at its fringe event during the Plaid Cymru Conference at Venue Cymru.

The panel, titled “Why the **** does Wales need a Men’s Health Plan?”, brought together MenTribe, @ukmenssheds , Movember UK and @leti_gales to discuss the challenges facing men in Wales, what prevents men from accessing support and why Wales needs a dedicated Men’s Health Plan.

Today, Callum and @shaun_5957 were honoured to be invited to the Senedd for the launch of Movember’s report on men’s health in Wales, alongside organisations and individuals committed to improving the lives of men across the country. It was brilliant to meet @johnhartson10 , @mattjohnsons and so many others doing great work in this space. As always, it was lovely to bump into the @helpucymru team too!

These opportunities allow us to share the lived experience behind MenTribe and bring the voices of the men in our communities into the national conversation about men’s health.

Thank you to Movember UK, our fellow panellists and everyone we connected with over the past few days. We’re excited to build on these conversations and continue working together for men across Wales.

Most importantly, thank you to every man who turns up to a walk, football session or event, every volunteer who gives their time, and everyone who supports MenTribe.

You are MenTribe, and you are the reason our voice is being heard. 💚

Our Ambassador @mattjohnsons sadly said goodbye to his beloved dog, Alan Shearer, last year 💔

Matt bravely opened up about the pain of losing Alan and the emotions that follow pet loss.

Alan wasn't just a pet; he was a best friend. This is a journey that many of us face, and we're grateful to Matt for helping us open up these important conversations - pet loss deserves to be seen and spoken about.

Our pet bereavement toolkit is here to help you navigate your grief should you need support (link in bio)

Tony (2026)

First review for a couple of weeks so apologies if I’m a bit rusty.

There’s something inherently “Anthony Bourdain” about making a film about Anthony Bourdain and refusing to make it about Anthony Bourdain.

No montage towards celebrity, no greatest-hits recreation of the man we eventually knew, no desperate impersonation of the voice, the cigarettes, the television shows or the mythology. Instead Johnson’s ‘Tony’ finds him before any of that mattered, when he was just a cocky, insecure nineteen-year-old convinced he was destined to become a great writer, only to stumble into a kitchen and accidentally become himself and I fucking loved that.

Dominic Sessa is terrific because he never seems interested in impersonating Bourdain so much as finding the kid underneath him. Someone painfully intelligent but nowhere near as worldly as he thinks, carrying that uniquely youthful combination of absolute confidence and complete uncertainty, bullshitting his way through conversations, jobs and relationships because he hasn’t quite figured out who he is yet. Antonio Banderas, quietly gives the film its soul, a man who understands something Tony hasn’t learned yet, that life rarely announces the moments that will change you. Sometimes it’s just another shift, another plate, another person showing you how something should be done and years later you realise they altered the direction of your entire life.

The kitchen itself feels alive too, sweaty, chaotic, intoxicating and occasionally disgusting, while Cape Cod exists somewhere between reality and memory, soaked in that gorgeous late-summer light that makes everything feel like something you’re already nostalgic for while it’s happening.

Perhaps that’s what stayed with me most. We know who Anthony Bourdain becomes, and tragically we know where his story eventually ends but Tony resists allowing that knowledge to swallow the boy standing in front of us. For this film, tomorrow doesn’t matter.

He’s fucking up, falling in love with food and becoming someone without even realising it. And in my experience that’s how most of us become ourselves.

“Only my mother calls me Anthony”
