In this final stretch, I’m proud to have the support of some great MoCo leaders. From candidates to already established officeholders, this group firmly believes in a better Democratic Party.

Celebrated Juneteenth today beside neighbors at Sharp Street United Methodist Church.

Thank you to all who spoke, came out to join, and especially to Sharp Street for the kind invite!

What a gorgeous Sunday afternoon to celebrate Olney! Team Mireku-North had a lovely time meeting with our friends and neighbors for the annual Olney Days Parade. A special thanks to our interns and the District 14 team for marching along with us.

Tribeca Festival introduced the Harry Belafonte Award — named in honor of the actor, activist, and civil rights leader. The award, which recognizes individuals using the arts to enact change, kicked off with a celebration of Stacey Abrams.

In 2024, the award was given to eight activists featured in Following Harry, a documentary profiling Belafonte. The 2025 Award went to Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett. Who will win in 2026? #Tribeca25th

Montgomery County is one of the most expensive places to live in Maryland and families are feeling it.

We’re endorsing candidates for State Senate and House of Delegates who are ready to champion affordable housing, protect renters, and make sure people can actually afford to stay in the communities they call home.

Eight years ago, we stood on a stage and looked out at a crowd that felt endless. We were students. We were grieving. We were done waiting for someone else to fix what was breaking our lives.

We saw people marching across the country. Across the world. But what we felt was the beginning of something much bigger. Even then, we knew this wasn’t a single moment. It was the start of a movement.

Eight years later, we are no longer the same people who stood at that podium. We’ve grown up. We’ve carried this fight into classrooms, communities, and the halls of power. We’ve passed laws, built coalitions, and refused to let this crisis be forgotten.

This didn’t start in 2018, and it didn’t end there either. Our friends, family, and members of our communities are still being taken from us.

So today is not just about looking back. It’s about remembering the voices that filled the streets. The names we refuse to forget. The promise we made to each other that we would not move on.

Because we didn’t.

We’re still here. Still organizing. Still pushing. Still believing that a different future is possible, and still doing the work to build it.

Busy weekend! Canvassed for some amazing candidates in Washington grove & Cloverly. Had some very productive conversations with voters.

People are ready for change, younger leadership. That was underscored by @mattlpost ‘s wonderful event in which David Hogg emphasized the need for the next generation of leaders.

We are just shy of 3 months out from Election Day, still work to be done.
