Delaware State Parks planted a Liberty Tree at @trappondstatepark as its 75,000th tree to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the first state park as well as the 250th milestone of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (@delawarednrec) is one of three state agencies participating in A Tree for Every Delawarean (TEDI), with a goal of planting one million new trees, one for every resident in the state, by 2030. As part of its 2021-2026 Strategic Plan, Delaware State Parks committed to add 75,000 trees by the end of 2026, and the American holly (the state tree) was provided a place of honor in 16 state parks as a Liberty Tree.

Well, At the September Public Education Funding Commission (PFEC) meeting, Delaware’s Secretary of Education presented the “Delaware’s School Performance & Support Framework” a proposed framework outlining FIVE tiers of school support, accountability, and intervention.

The goal? To provide different levels of support based on schools’ needs and performance.

The framework is still a DRAFT, and the Delaware Department of Education is seeking public feedback!

The CAUSE’s founder, Scott Michels, was recently honored with the Governor’s Distinguished Service Award by Governor Matt Meyer.

This award is a representation of all the great work and impact of The CAUSE, from working with Delaware’s adjudicated youth to building a peer-to-peer educational network of nearly 180,000 people to organizing Delaware’s largest service project, The Do-Good-A-Thon/The Party, and the various community improvement projects in between.

Each of us has a role in making Delaware a better place, and this award is to all of those who have helped us achieve our mission of empowering people TO empower people.

Maya Angelou said, “When you know better, you do better,” and at The CAUSE we encourage people to help their friends and family know better so we can ALL do better.

As we reflect on Indigenous people day , One had the honor to speak and represent on behalf of the Condor nation, as recently Governor @mattmeyerde signed DE House Bill 365 into law. This bill establishes the Delaware Indigenous Affairs Commission that will give a voice to the First Peoples on First State. This is a moment to reflect, to heal , to uplift, and to continue to walk in purpose among our ancestors, Thank you to Lenepe sister Doris Cooper for leading the mission, thank you to Rep. @repkerrievelynharris, Governor Matt Meyer, Sen.
