Turkey Snappin’ Mama is an explosive blues song played by the amazing @tenfootpolecats with @mattsnowman on drums 🤘 I wrote this song about my grandma. My grandparents had the first exclusive turkey hatchery in the United States. I live on the same land and have since converted one of the old turkey hatcheries into a yoga studio/event space.

Five years ago, I started @cityhousenashville as a server. Going back to serving after years of bartending was not exactly what I wanted, but sometimes you make compromises to get in where you need to be.

By December, I had weaseled my way behind the bar with @alisalove23 and by May, I had stumbled into running it. The following March, things got really weird, and to work in our industry became more difficult than ever before. But so many of us stayed together - @haleighpainter, @peteraterry, @jbeckwithjr, @milmil0506, @myfavoriteplum, @ Brad (@meghan_midgett) - propping each other up, determined not to let something so special be destroyed by circumstances so shitty.

And when opportunities to dive deeper into the wine world began opening back up, it was so many of the incredible people I’ve gotten to know across the City House bar that pushed me to jump back in, encouraged me to keep going and believed that I could.

So it goes. @emilymccoy1, @cociburro, and @asintheflower came back. Beloved @mattsnowman, @thatzrich, @86randybarrett, @kmcunningham08, @sarahparkinson, @carmenthewulf, @eatmorkake, @rileyparkermusic, @bjorkwithoutthej, @emilyroseofficial, and @d.thomasmackin were highlights in their time. @a.study.of, @taymazing, @lucasvarsano, @jgfariello, @_baddiesattva, @marcialp122, @auntdreya came in and became part of what makes us City House. And now I have a new bar baby in @miaragomusic.

Five years later, every day is different, and it’s never quite easy, but I found a place where people care about each other and the work we’re doing, and I consider myself lucky to be a part of it.

I have so much for which to be so incredibly grateful - the friends, colleagues, neighbors, the challenges, the opportunities, the triumphs, the shared losses, the milestones, the contagious love of food and drink and community, the collective passion for hospitality - but at the top of that list is @bigtandy for creating, sustaining, supporting the thing, for being the overflowing heart of it all.
