Still reeling from having the best time ever at the 27th Annual Woodstock Film Festival.
Thank you to all the filmmakers and artists who came up to talk about their films with us. 🤍

Programming shorts for this fest is one of my favorite things to do, and I’m so glad I get to do it with @quierolanoche and @charlee.liebeskind.

Thank you @woodstockfilmfestival for being so magical. ✨

A homecoming for Living Harriet Tubman at Fresno State University.

Nancy Whittle returned to her alma mater, where she graduated from the social work program, for a screening of the film and conversation with Harriet Tubman descendant Ernestine Wyatt and co-director Brandon Tauszik.

Nancy spent more than three decades portraying Harriet Tubman throughout California while also working as a social worker and educator in Fresno. Sharing the film at the university that helped shape that part of her life made this screening especially meaningful.

Thank you to Fresno State’s Department of Social Work Education for hosting us.

One year ago we threw the BEST party to celebrate our love, with a lot of help from our favorite people. Turns out it takes a village to throw a wedding, and probably one to sustain a marriage, too. Wishing for many more years of dancing laughing crying with our village 💝

UPCOMING EVENTS + PINHOLE PORTRAITS

A few exciting things coming up that I’d love to invite you to:

TUESDAY, AUGUST 25 · 11AM
I’ll be going live on Instagram with @apasanfrancisco Director @lisavortman to share some exciting news.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 29 · 5–9PM
My collective @daydream.darkroom is throwing an art party + exhibition at the darkroom.

We’ll have a group exhibition, independent art book fair, live DJs, refreshments, a large format instant photo booth, and a whole lot more.

We’re also excited to announce our early bird lineup of vendors:

@underdogfilmlab
@sunstrokepress
@batherslibrary
@shaded_space
@tbwbooks

AND MORE!! All legends. IFKYK.

I’ll also be showing a few photographs from my current project exploring pinhole photography.

I’ve become particularly interested in the challenging, incredibly ethereal results of making portraits with these cameras. They have no lens, no viewfinder, and no dials for aperture or shutter speed. The fixed aperture of a pinhole camera is somewhere around f/128, which can result in extraordinarily long exposures.

Some of the portraits I’ve made required the subject to hold completely still for up to 12 minutes.

There’s something beautiful about that constraint. Making these photographs becomes a practice in patience, trust, curiosity, and intuition. All things I’ve grown to love about making art.

The portraits in this post are of my dearly beloved partner, @needesiree , who I miss very much while she’s off on some adventures of her own.

Come hang with us on the 29th if you’re around. It’s going to be a good one.

A double feature... sort of.

On August 12th, two short films we’ve produced will screen at the exact same time – one in Los Angeles and one in Oakland.

🎬 CHANNELVUE plays as part of Reels & Reveals at WHAMMY! in LA, a night of independent shorts paired with live cinematic burlesque.

🎬 BETTY ST. CLAIR screens at Reel Queer Flix at Oakland’s historic Grand Lake Theatre, alongside an incredible lineup of LGBTQ+ films celebrating Oakland Pride Week.

We’ll be cheering from both sides of California. If you’re in LA, come say hi at WHAMMY! If you’re in the Bay, come say what’s up at Grand Lake.

See you at the movies. 🍿
