THIS SATURDAY! Join us for the opening of “VIGNETTES” a solo show by Matty Whitcomb at the Where y’Art Works Gallery.

A vignette can simply be defined as a brief description or a self-contained impression.

These paintings are Vignettes of my thoughts, Vignettes of my life, and Vignettes of New Orleans.

Vignettes of my thoughts like glimpses of my ideas - ideas that I have explored, tested, and drawn conclusions from. Ideas that have inspired other ideas.

Vignettes of my life in moments and phases, sewn with my personality and the accumulation of my experiences. Growth rings of my age.

Vignettes of New Orleans through featured figures - the muses - people who are the essential threads in the fabric of the city; they are the ones who tend to us, educate us, and care for us in our time of need. My friends.

Each painting is a part of my life, an idea I had, and something I admire.
Each painting is a piece of me.

Please, join us!

@lrnrochelle what have you gotten me into?! 😂🤩 For the 4th year in a row I left New Orleans with sore muscles, new blisters, a belly full of King Cake, and a heart so full it felt like we floated home. ✨Find a group of strong women that build you up so high you forget what down is✨ @thejametteskrewe I loved every minute of this Mardi Gras season. Perception has limits.
Understanding might too.
What if the truth is too simple to see?

Where y’Art Works for The Old No. 77 Hotel and Chandlery
For 10 years, we’ve had the pleasure of curating exhibitions at our very own satellite gallery inside the hotel. What started with a single meeting to style the Chandlery’s glass cases has grown into a creative partnership, with over 30 shows, 500+ local artists, and thousands of art lovers served. After more than a decade, our collaboration is still thriving and growing.

Stop by the @old77_hotel for a feast for the eyes and maybe even one for your stomach at @comperelapin. The “Art of Flavor” exhibition is still on view!

Food.
Art.
Culture.
It’s a recipe for the secret sauce of New Orleans.
For over 300 years, our traditions have blended European, African, and West Indian influences. Food tells stories and connects communities. Recipes carry history, passed down from generation to generation, often unwritten. Spices are used like colors, building layers of flavor and meaning. Food brings us together through time and across the table.
Art of Flavor celebrates these connections and asks you to join us at the table.
