Every child at Rady Children’s has a story worth celebrating, and today we had the privilege of skating with one of our very own rink heroes. His courage, joy, and strength inspire every single glide across the ice this season. Seeing him skate beside his poster on the boards made the entire rink feel brighter and reminded us why this tradition matters so much to our community. Behind every photo on our rink boards is a journey filled with resilience and hope, and today we got to witness that journey in person. Sharing the ice with him brought so much happiness and purpose to our day. His smile, his energy, and his spirit highlight exactly what this season is all about. We are truly grateful for the chance to celebrate him and his incredible story.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and we were honored to receive a proclamation from the Mayor of San Diego, Todd Gloria, officially declaring September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in our city!

This recognition is a powerful step in raising awareness and standing in solidarity with the children and families affected by cancer. Approximately 47 children a day get diagnosed with cancer and only 4% of funding goes towards studying pediatric cancers. Together, we can shine a light on their battles, support life-saving research, and advocate for a brighter, healthier future for every child.

Today is world cancer day and is important that we stand united in the fight against cancer. Every minute a child is diagnosed with cancer.

Let’s honor the fighters, remember the warriors we’ve lost, and support those still battling. Every step forward counts, and together, we can make a difference. Join the movement, spread awareness, and show love. Together, we are stronger.

On this day 12.29.2020 I rung the bell! You can’t imagine the joy I feel knowing that God kept me and walked with me through this journey! If only you knew how I got to this point in my life. There was a time when I was so angry with God after losing my mom that I wanted nothing to do with Him. I was rude, dismissive, and ignored every sign He gave me as He tried to get my attention. But let me tell you, the correction I received was like no other. I let my flesh lead me into disobedience, but eventually, I had to surrender. I threw in the towel, apologized to God, and acknowledged that He had won.

This journey brought me closer to Him than I’ve ever been. It was a test like no other. From being diagnosed with ovarian cancer—where it’s often found at Stage 4 when little can be done—I was diagnosed at Stage 1. Oh, but God! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 The devil was busy, even attacking my husband’s mind, which brought its own challenges. Mental illness is very real, but through it all, God asked me to trust Him, and I did just that. With prayers from my loved ones, my few friends, the champions etc;

Now, here I am, four years later, cancer-free, sharing my testimony, and giving hope to others. If you don’t do anything else, trust Him. Give it all to Him and know that He will handle the rest. It might not happen when or how we want, but be still—it’s all in His perfect timing.

In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we partnered with @blulitebonfires and hosted a very special beach bonfire for 10 of our cancer warriors and their families. We roasted s’mores, blew bubbles, played in the sand and best of all got to enjoy eachothers company. All of these wonderful children have been, and continue to be, so brave as they each navigate their road to recovery. Keep these kids in your prayers as well as all the other amazing warriors who are currently battling.

Today was a day spent with @triumph_together @mitchellthorpfoundation and amongst some incredible warrior friends.

@jack_gates from @triumph_together_ wanted to share his passion for hockey with the kids by bringing families together to come out and ice skate at @libertystation Most of the kids and their siblings have never ice skated before so @jack_gates and a lot of his hockey buddies came out to teach the kids how to ice skate. Thank you @triumph_together_ It was such a fun day!

We also want to give a big shoutout to @tipsyelves for the cutest reindeer onesie and to the @spreadgoodsquad for the pocky and @mitchellthorpfoundation for the thoughtful Christmas gifts!

Meet Max! @maxbstrong_15
Max was diagnosed with B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in December 2020.
He was diagnosed after non-stop vomiting and alarming weight loss. Max had his last chemo on June 9th 2021, and he’s been doing well ever since then! He is so sweet and curious and he is very imaginative. I’m so proud of him for overcoming so much, and being such a strong cancer fighter!

hi everyone! since starting my smile boxes back in the beginning of my freshman year of high school, i have sent out WELL OVER 100 SMILE BOXES to kids/teens all across the US and the UK!!

i am now about to start the last trimester of my senior year of high school in the US and plan on attending university in the UK next year where i will definitely still be sending out boxes. before being back in the UK, I would absolutely love to send tons & tons more packages to kids in the US over the next few months. however, I need your help getting some nominations:

if you know anyone who you think would like one of my smile boxes, please please DM me!! i would love to talk to you and send them one :) or you can drop their instagrams in the comments below and i can reach out to them directly. you can also nominate yourself! if you do not know of anyone at the moment, please help me spread the word so that I can reach more kids and brighten up their day.

Day 6 of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month🎗

Today I started my day off with a walk at my favorite park with my neighbor where we walked 1.7 miles for the #millionmile fundraiser hosted by Alex’s Lemonade Stand! Then I had my first day of classes this semester which means I am one step closer to becoming a therapist specializing in working with kids and families impacted by chronic and terminal illnesses! On days where school may be tough, I’ll remind myself of all the little warriors I work with through All for Ali and remember I’m working towards a career where I can help kids and families like them process the diagnosis and all that comes with it.

Fun fact: Almost half of all childhood cancer patients will suffer from a mental illness and parents and siblings of warriors also have an increased risk of developing a mental illness.
