Wonderful afternoon celebrating Matthias Finberg and Owen Howard as they earn the rank of Eagle Scout. I’ve had the honor to see both young men grow up over the years. Their dedication, leadership and service to the community give me hope for our community and country. Who knows Matthias may even end up being a Mayor for more than a day 😉

🙏A NOTE OF GRATITUDE from OUR CEO Heather White 💚

💫Starting things isn’t easy. When I realized it was time to address the mental health impacts of the climate crisis and encourage more people to “see” themselves in climate action, the whole concept was new.

🌎 I founded OneGreenThing the nonprofit in April 2021 with Chief of Start Up Emily Necessary Fowler and an outstanding board of directors and national advisory council.

🌱Now, “eco-anxiety” is a household term, and I’ve published three books on the topic.

🔥 From wildfires on both coasts to historic hurricanes impacting North Carolina and Florida we live in “unprecedented times.” More and more people are connecting the dots between their mental, physical, and emotional health and climate change.

🌀Young people are especially worried. A recent national survey of 16,000 young people in the U.S. found that 85% experience eco-anxiety and more than half do not want children of their own because of the climate crisis.

⛑️As board member Erin Brockovich likes to say, and it’s the title of her most recent book, Superman’s not coming. We need systems change, but that’s unlikely to happen at the national level for a while. As a result, community has never been more important.

🗺️From Silicon Valley to London to UTA to Harvard University, this journey has taken OneGreenThing all over the map with our message of hope through action.

💚We’ve made big progress - in not only encouraging people to process their feelings but also to take climate action and create the culture shift we need.

🌿THANK YOU for joining me on this journey. Together, we will continue to make a greener, healthier, more just future. XOXO -Heather

What an incredible weekend with our Board of Advocates! We kicked things off with a meeting on Friday afternoon, welcoming our new class of members and honoring our outgoing chair, Kris Kaiser Olson. Friday evening, we gathered for a special event, hosted by Denton McLane and the McLane Family at the Founders Suite of McLane Stadium. We then wrapped up the weekend cheering the Bears victory at the TCU football game! Grateful for this amazing Board and everyone who joined us in celebrating community and supporting our cause!

Hey there! I wanted to get in touch on behalf of @gnarcyofficial . We've got some awesome jewelry lined up, and I reckon you'd be the best match to rock our latest collection of rugged accessories!

If you dig it, we'd love to hook you up with 3 pieces on the house! Yup, you read that right – completely FREE!

Just shoot a DM over to our main account @gnarcyofficial (if you dont see a DM button, just reply to any of their stories), and our guy Shawn will sort you out pronto! But hey, don't sleep on it – spots are filling up fast, and we'd hate for you to miss out on the action! Cheers, mate! 🤙

📚pub day part 2 🌎

I absolutely LOVED being back in Takoma Park at the wonderful new bookstore @peoplesbookstakoma. My dear friend, sustainability expert and @onegreenthing board member Victoria Gilchrist @victoryg24 interviewed me. We talked about what inspired me to write this day reader. I can’t wait to share it with you. We’re the architects of the future. What we today matters. We’re building what’s ahead of the next generation — our future loved ones.

Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate, including the moms from the mother-daughter book club we had for years, neighbors, professional friends, and random customers of the bookstore. Loved seeing fellow authors Corry Westbrook and Chelsea Henderson (get their books!)

Thrilled to be joined by @onegreenthing board member @maxfinberg, my circle of love (which for the record is very “hot”) — Thanks, Tim for representing Wildwood!!! And, of course, my father-in-law Barry Diamond. 📗💚🌎

My TED Talk, Think Like An Awesome Ancestor: A Daily Practice to Ease Eco-Anxiety went live yesterday!

Please WATCH, LIKE & SHARE with your networks! (link in bio!)

What world are we leaving future generations?

Already 1 out of 4 Gen Zers don’t want to have children because they are so worried about the climate crisis. This extreme distress is called “eco-anxiety” or “climate anxiety.” Today’s kids need to know they are not alone.

Discover your strengths in climate action and transform eco-anxiety through a “one green thing,” a daily practice of sustainability, grounded in gratitude.

Our collective action will drive the necessary culture change for a greener, more equitable world so we can be the awesome ancestors our future loved ones deserve.

Above all, climate action is fueled by love - love for our families and for our future loved ones. Yes, the ones we haven't met yet. It's our turn to pay it forward and think of ourselves as ancestors.

Thank you to the @onegreenthing board of directors and national advisory council for all their feedback, encouragement & support, and to the amazing @emfowler76 Chief of Start Up for OneGreenThing for all her feedback, coaching, and support. @mayasideas - you are my TED talk pro! Thank for the inspiration!

And to @johnkwerner @noralatorreofficial , and the outstanding team at @tedxboston

And of course, to my daughters Cady & Susan and dear husband David Diamond for letting me share our stories on the TED stage and in my book.
