this is me and phineas. i have zero real photos of both us because we are always behind one of the cameras. we are very different and also very much the same. he sometimes drives me crazy but mostly inspires me. we sat at this cafe to plan this idea and asked all our amazing artist friends to dress up and perform as other artists for halloween this year, and to my surprise, they p much all said yes. geoff and max are also legends / co-throwing this w us. pinch me! see you 10/24 as frost children (with anaïs) ☺︎☺︎☺︎

my old boss @woodyjacksonofficial used to not-so-lovingly use the term “slashies” but it turns out I’m happiest doing a little bit of everything that i love all of the time and this was kind of the best week ever

played a solo set at @echoparkrising with Maddie

immediately ubered across town to drum w Lola/Harry/Ethan

EPR show w Dylan on drums + sampler

EPR show w Kian on drums

filmed/photographed the whole weekend including Luke and Sadie surprise-remixing my song

ran sound for Gigi and all star band at El Cid (mostly from the front row where my dumb tall blonde self is perfectly lit photobombing every crowd video but I wanted to dance because i love gigi’s music and have since before we were friends)

hosted the most awesome show at Comet Over Delphi that is such a treat and so effortless with all of the amazing help from friends and talent from the friends who played

went to multiple shows for fun

all in a weeks work

Some thoughts on artistry: yes, it’s a job that you can take and make for yourself but you best had leave the entitlement at the door because there are no guarantees in this line of work. Choosing it doesn’t feel like a choice to some… but maybe more of a calling? It’s a way of life … but it’s a damn hard way to make a living, especially in a world where so many can find a pretty easy entry point in to being an artist. But it’s not all of us that can take everything we’ve learned, everything we’ve experienced, and lay it on the line every day with each creative exploration… with no stake in the results and with little to no expectations… purely for the sake of crashing in to something. Hudson personifies this… 10+ years of grinding - but not just grinding - of developing, working, writing, wood shedding, learning the instrument, collaborating, connecting, and for it all to come to a culmination of a push, a pressing against an evil algorithm, to reach the people with pure sweetness, one song, one video at a time until one version of a song cuts through it all. It’s not a riff that made a moment. Many a great riff has been made… and just as easily washed away in the ethos of internet void…but because it was Hudson, because of the context, because of his history, because of all the work laid before, and the focus.. lets not forget about the focus… when the riff was laid out and put to those lyrics, it just popped. It’s easy to look at a result and analyze it, but that’s like looking at a beautifully baked loaf of bread and neglecting to think about the yeast, or the water, the temperature, the hands in the dough… who’s hands are they? Oh, but when it all comes together it’s pure magic baby...and it’s beautiful.. And I’m grateful to watch it happen <3

i was really afraid to release this song because i think 15 year old me would’ve ridiculed it and then i was almost gonna release it and then didn’t and then did a little later woohoo for pushing yourself to do uncomfortable things yay

i made this song to immortalize a specific feeling of camaraderie and wholesome attachment and silliness and infinity that means something to me

i think when i feel that, it is the best i ever feel in my life

i hope you play it with the windows down on the PCH and out of your bluetooth speaker on the beach and in your earbuds on the bus/train
