This Friday I’ll be joining @stlfilmfest for a special screening and discussion of the film Moonlight. This will be my first public appearance since my opera, and I’m looking forward to sharing my perspective on the significance of Black Queer theatre and storytelling.

If you’d asked me a few years ago what I thought about Joplin, I wouldn’t have had much to say. However, after being invited back @jomoprideinc for the third consecutive year, I’ve fallen even deeper in love with this community.

This year, I performed a piece honoring Black radical movements and co-hosted a powerful discussion on Queer policy with @repwick , the conversation so moving that it left more than a few people in tears. @lillyforthelou was scheduled to join the panel, but her absence was for the best of reasons: she was holding the line at the capitol, protesting for 70 hours straight. We lifted her up together, getting the entire audience to cheer « Let’s Go Lilly! », reminding everyone that the Queer community in Joplin is here for the fight.

Later, I closed with a ten-minute piece honoring Gaza. The crowd roared in support, and in that moment, it was clear that solidarity here is alive and fierce, and I’m beyond honored to create radical coalitions with these amazing fighters from across the state!! Thank you Joplin for being a part of the fight; together we will win!!

Over the last couple of months, St. Louis Drag Artists @kapona.stl @demonboynextdoor , and @maxiglamour have been diligently working on the most environmentally conscious Queer dinner party St. Louis has ever seen. From the compostable cutlery to all the flyers printed on 100% recycled paper, the organizers have intentionally curated an environment that authentically cares about the environment.
With all the planning, it feels great to say that SNAX is almost here!!
This Saturday come see @soumir__ @awedacitea @passionprinciple with food from @bombayfoodjunkies

We can’t wait to see you!! Even though VIP and dinner tickets are sold out, there are still general admission tickets to see the show, so get them while you can!!
