Excellently researched. 👏🏾

Can someone find this wonderful lady and tag her for me? 🙏🏾

You can’t rewrite history when I’m still here to tell it, and when so many others were part of the journey from school and university days through to where Afrobeats is today.

They’ve seen the vision, the work, the TV shows, the radio, the concerts, and the movement grow every step of the way.

Can’t forget @may7ven the real architect & marketing mastermind 🎵alongside an incredible team who helped me present and market it to the world.

The movement has now exploded globally. Let’s make sure the history is told accurately. #AfrobeatsUK #AfrobeatsShow #afrobeats

@frenchmontana is obviously mistaken. History has a long memory. And so do we. 📻🔥

Before algorithms. Before playlists. Before anyone called it a “wave”… there was groundwork. Real groundwork.

I was championing ‘Afrobeats’ at our events, pitching it to labels, and then pushing it onto UK radio when most people didn’t even know how to pronounce it, let alone believe in it. From Choice FM to Capital XTRA, this wasn’t accidental exposure. It was strategy. It was placement. It was intentional branding. We pushed culture into mainstream spaces that weren’t built for it… until we built our way in.

Yes, global moments matter. Big records travel. But Afrobeats in the UK, or anywhere else, did not begin with “Unforgettable.” Culture doesn’t start at the point of commercial convenience. It starts with believers. With risk-takers. With people like myself, 90%, AwaabaUk, Blacknights, Femi BenTv, OBE, Abass, Mike L, Rapo and a few others putting our own money on the line and investing in the branding before it was profitable.

Salute to Fuse ODG, MistaSilva, May7ven and the many UK artists who locked arms and pushed the movement forward with intention. At that time, Ghana 🇬🇭 was truly pushing boundaries and shifting perception. We executed the vision. We achieved what we set out to do.

The baton has been passed and the new generation is running with power. That’s beautiful to witness. 🏁

But please, don’t attempt to rewrite history.
The receipts exist. The archives exist. The interviews exist.

And thank God I’m still here so the story tells itself.

Facts are facts. 📀✨
