POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This week we were in the D.C. area for less than 24 hours, where I was the keynote at the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association convention 🍦

Tasted some good bites and beverages, and also got to catch up with friends over dinner at @maydandc 🔥🥩

The trip was too short. Hope to return again sooner rather than later to eat more great food 🛬

First stop on my research trip with @lallamina_la: Sicily 🇮🇹

Why is the food in Sicily so different than the rest of Italy? I’m going to say officially it’s because of the Arab influence on the cuisine. We traveled to the region to learn more about how this all came about and to celebrate the Sicilian side of my family.

We’ll be sharing more from our time in Sicily, including what we ate and who we met, before taking you along to Morocco as we learn more about the connections between Sicilian and North African cuisine.

And very soon, we’ll be bringing what inspired us on this trip to a special menu at @maydandc and @maydan_la 🧡

Founded by Rose Previte, Maydan is a Michelin-starred celebration of the cuisines of the Middle East, North Africa, and the Mediterranean, cooked over a live wood fire. It was named one of the best new restaurants in the country by Bon Appétit and earned a spot on Washingtonian’s 100 Very Best Restaurants list. We’re thrilled to have Maydan join us at the D.C. Capital Feast, coming up next month!

College tours are officially done. Along with some relief, there’s a good deal of melancholy and a whole lot of reality. I have felt so grateful for these little get aways that have given me time with someone I really like spending time with, talks that explore all of the exciting things that lie ahead and so many big feelings (those would be mine). You’re one in a trillion @nate_crofton … hope we find lots of other reasons for future getaways.

Soho House calls it One Night Only, but Maydan can officially say we’ve done two, coast to coast. First New York and now, many years later, West Hollywood.

Thank you @paulvitagliano, @thebillyharris and Soho House Los Angeles for the invite. Cooking for your members in such an unbelievably beautiful space and making new friends truly made it a night to remember. ✨🙏
