Fill in the blank—I commit to doing _________ for myself this year. 😁🩺✨

The New Year is a great opportunity for new habits! Thank you to @mayoclinicsom student Ewoma Ogbaudu for sharing how he practices self-care and combats burnout. Just a gentle reminder to make yourself a priority in 2023.

In Ewoma’s own words, “It’s important that we take care of ourselves as students, so we can eventually take care of our patients in the future.” Wise beyond his years!

MATCH DAY COUNTDOWN: Tomorrow is the big day! Meet our final Match Day Spotlight--fourth-year medical student at @mayoclinicsom FL campus, Kristin Cardiel Nunez...

Kristin plans to pursue a career in combined pediatrics and medical genetics. During her time in medical school, she had the opportunity to participate in a one-month clinical rotation in East Africa, an experience that helped shape her career interests and firm belief that the place a person is born should not dictate lifespan, access to medical care or outcome of a condition.

Her goal is to use research to highlight the needs of pediatric patients with genetic conditions in countries where there is limited access to care.

Tomorrow--Friday, March 17--Krisitin and her fellow Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine fourth-year students will come together for one of the most important ceremonies of their med school careers. Match Day happens all across the nation at the same time. Students will open their envelopes in front of their fellow medical students, faculty, friends and family, revealing the insitutions they will serve their residencies with.

Any words of wisdom on this Match Day eve for our medical students that are anxiously awaiting tomorrow?

WE FREAKING MATCHED!!! 🥳🥳🥳 After an extremely hard year after not matching in 2022...The loneliness, the single parenting for 6 months, the countless away rotations, the sacrifice and hard work on all parts...WE MATCHED!!! AND WE ARE SO HAPPY!!! 😭🥹😄
•
After 4 years of undergrad and 5 years of medical school, we are on to the next phase! 5 years of Residency! Blade is going to be a surgeon! And a stellar one at that! To say I am so so proud of him, is an understatement! I'm proud of us!! 🥹😭❤️
•
We find out where we will be spending the next five years of residency on Friday! 🤗
•
That being said, as we know from experience, this day is not always happy for everyone. 💔 If you find yourself or know someone that has not matched this year, please know that my DMs are open! We are an open book to our experience and sometimes it's just helpful to have someone who knows what it feels like to chat with. Sending love to all you Match Day Waiters! 🥰
