Today, on April 17, 2026, our team at MOIA is honored to celebrate 119 years since more than 11,000 immigrant New Yorkers first set foot on our shores. We are deeply grateful for the countless contributions of immigrant New Yorkers and for all the ways immigrants power New York. Happy #ImmigrantHeritageWeek!

How do you say "immigrants power New York" in your language?

Another year, another unforgettable Easter in the Bronx! 🐣✨
The Annual Easter Egg Hunt with Team Reyes was full of smiles, laughter, and a community showing up for one another. Watching so many families come together, children filled with excitement, and neighbors celebrating together drives our work every single day.

A huge thank you to all of our incredible sponsors and community partners who made this event possible, and to every family who came out to celebrate the season with us. This is what the Bronx is all about. 💙

Meet with a Rent Freeze Specialist!

Our office is excited to announce an opportunity for eligible residents to get help enrolling in the NYC Department of Finance’s rent freeze and homeowner tax exemption programs, including the Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE) and the Disability Rent Increase Exemption (DRIE). These programs help eligible older adults and New Yorkers with disabilities stay in their homes by freezing rent at its current level and protecting them from future rent increases.

Staff from the Mayor’s Public Engagement Unit will be in our district office (322 Eighth Avenue, # 1700) the 4th Tuesday of every month from 10:30am to 1:00pm to help constituents access the resources for which they’re eligible.

The next date to meet with a specialist is on Tuesday, April 28.

This week Commissioner Ali joined @jfrejnyc for #SederInTheStreets.

Alongside @nycmayor, the Office to Combat Antisemitism, the Office of Mass Engagement, the Office of Faith Based Partnerships, faith leaders, community members, and others. MOIA was proud to reaffirm the Sanctuary City status of NYC.

All New Yorkers deserve to feel safe in our great city, regardless of where you come from and how long you’ve been here.

No tenant should have to live with a rat infestation, especially Cora, a 71 yo Bronx cancer survivor who despite pleas to her landlord, is forced to live in a constant state of stress over the rats, so much so that she can't eat, can't sleep, and fears hospitalization. LSNYC's Bronx Tenant Rights Coalition is standing by her side and helping her SUE HER LANDLORD, a right that every tenant in NYC can exercise. WATCH the ABC7NY story at the link in our bio, which consequently led to an exterminator inspecting her apartment, the creation of a community-led GoFundMe, and @bronxbpgibson temporarily relocating her.

I couldn’t have done this without my village💞

What you see here isn’t just a team… it’s friends, family, and people who showed up for me and for the vision behind Naturally Armored.

From setup to smiles, from keeping things running to making sure every child felt seen and safe, you all helped bring Spring Into Safety to life in the most beautiful way.

I’m beyond grateful for each and every one of you. This is community, this is love.

We’re just getting started 💫

Tenants on E. 103rd Street are fighting for what everyone deserves: safe, affordable homes. For years, they’ve lived with crumbling ceilings, rotting floors, and a landlord who won’t make repairs. Now, their buildings are in foreclosure and heading to auction. Tenants are looking for the City’s support in helping @ehebclt, a community land trust, buy the buildings, so tenants can finally have the safety and stability they deserve. Read the whole story in @Gothamist at the link in our bio.
