Only you, New York. Only you. If you can possibly swing it, try to go see Other Desert Cities. Cannot stop thinking about their heart stopping performances and the play and how relevant the story is … the whole thing took my breath away in so many ways. Other highlights @marcelnyc is 💎💎💎 @somssi_nyc is my new FAVORITE. Wow. @desertcitiesbway will win all the Tonys @tarynsimonprojects exhibition at @guggenheim is the work of a lifetime (and she has a lot of life to live) … it’s 40 chapters … plan to spend time with this show. @gagosian Brice Marden exhibit ✔️ @mayseycraddock show at @searspeytongallery 🩵 @hotelchelsea I want to move in but so does everyone And to my sister and fabulous brother in law, I love you both so much. MEMPHIS ARTIST @mayseycraddock at @searspeytongallery in NYC. A beautiful show, Maysey! We loved seeing it today. “to the heart of the woods” is up through Oct 16 and includes ten paintings that reference place: they are themselves records of the unfurling life cycles of a tree, a copse, a shore. In the mood for something literary (and a little spooky?) You must read @shanefarafield’s latest at the @bittersoutherner. When Shane sent over the draft … I was shook … on so many levels. Of course I love great writing, but I also really love a true (!?!) ghost story. It’s good. Link in profile. Oh and big love to @mayseycraddock for letting us use her gorgeous paintings. But oh dear readers, this story is something different. “Sight Unseen” is a psychological gothic tale. “The bridge was low to the marsh where a blackwater river kissed the ocean mouth. A simple swing affair, a few feet above the pluff mud at low tide, long as a dawhoo mile from one side to the other. The span was sectioned with iron bands so car wheels went thunka thunka thunka like a bass drum announcing my arrival. I crossed over.” Shane knows something about the realm beyond the veil. She knows something about violence. Yes. Spooky Season has officially arrived. Enjoy.

I am very aware that I am closer to the end than the beginning. I want every day to be filled with friends who inspire me, who are concerned with the environment, with the health of the planet and all of the people on it. Tme feels more urgent - and that’s good because I am even more determined to make the most of it. Maysey Craddock: “to the heart of the woods” is on view now through October 17th! The wind, the water, the weather and time are forever shaping the edges of things, but this unfurling ribbon of natural change is fraying at the edges, pressured by the forces and appetites of human consumption. Out in the world, wild expanses divide and fragment, and in the studio Craddock paints to remember these spaces and find a way to calm the overwhelm that comes with every news cycle. She reimagines fragments of wild habitat that persist, despite human impact, within ongoing cycles of death, rebirth, and reclamation. These are spaces of tension and harmony, where the built surface and the evolving image converge. In to the heart of the woods, the title piece of the show, Craddock leads the viewer into this tension, an electric meeting point of deep fuchsia and orange, the place where sky meets land and land meets water. #mayseycraddock #searspeytongallery
