“I came from the freezer.” 😂

Somewhere out there, an IVF kid is telling everyone at school exactly where they came from... and their parents are getting a phone call they were NOT prepared for.

Well, I guess that’s one way to share that you went through an IVF journey. 😬

And if IVF siblings ever try to pull the “I’m older than you” card... feel free to use this one: “Actually, you’re both the same age. One of you was just thawed later.”

But (in all seriousness) then you look at your child and think… that actually worked. 🤯

A ball of cells. Frozen. Thawed. And now a whole human being explaining embryo transfers to their entire kindergarten class.

This is the magic (and the chaos) of IVF... even after it works. And nobody talks about it quite like this.

Dr. Meggie Smith (@mbsthinks), REI at @nashvillefertilitycenter and single mom by choice, joins us in Episode 20 of Fertility Nurses Unfiltered for one of the most honest, funny, and real conversations we’ve ever had.

“If I had the great secret, I would be very rich. And every clinic in America would be doing it.” - @mbsthinks

Your doctor isn’t hiding anything… here’s what’s happening:

When the system doesn’t give doctors enough TIME with their patients, trust breaks down. Patients go to the internet. The internet is full of misinformation, click bait, and sends you down a rabbit hole. And everyone loses.

Yes, in this week’s episode we not only unpack single parenthood by choice, we touch on some hard-hitting fertility care gaps you’re going to want to tune in for.

This is the conversation happening behind closed doors. We put it on a podcast. 🎙️

Whether you’re on a fertility journey, considering solo parenthood, or feeling like something is broken in the system... you’re not alone, and this episode’s for you.

Episode 20: Choosing Yourself - The Truth About Single Parenthood by Choice of Fertility Nurses Unfiltered is LIVE NOW.

“LeBron James was raised by a single mom. So was Justin Timberlake. I think they did okay.” 😂

The stigma around single parenthood by choice is real. But so is her story.

Dr. Meggie Smith (@mbsthinks), REI at @nashvillefertilitycenter and single mom by choice, was so nervous about people’s opinions that she kept her entire pregnancy off social media... announcing it only after her daughter arrived.

Her caption? “Had a baby. Plot twist.”

The response? Overwhelmingly positive. 🥰

TOMORROW on Fertility Nurses Unfiltered Episode 20, she talks about what it’s actually like to choose this path... and why she has zero regrets.

“I’m either going to get children or a marriage, but probably not both on the traditional timeline. And one of those I actually have more control over.”

Dr. Meggie Smith (@mbsthinks) is a reproductive endocrinologist at @nashvillefertilitycenter + a single mom by choice. She froze her eggs at 31, flew them across the country, and used donor sperm to have her now almost-3-year-old daughter... with baby number two due in August.

She joins us in our next episode to talk about all things single parenthood by choice... the personal and the clinical.

We cover:
→ How she decided to have children on her own terms
→ Choosing a sperm donor: what actually matters
→ Building a childcare “bench” when there’s no co-parent
→ Insurance realities for single women pursuing fertility treatment
→ Talking to your kids about donor conception
→ The one thing she tells every patient considering this path

This is a don’t miss episode... honest, warm, funny, and zero BS (as always).

🎧 Episode 20: Choosing Yourself - The Truth About Single Parenthood by Choice drops Tuesday, July 14th. Link in bio.

If you’re considering single parenthood by choice, know someone who is, or are supporting someone navigating this journey… this episode is for you!

They are only little once. Enjoy it. Capture it any way you can. Take them on the trip. Read the 10th book. Stay 5 minutes longer. Buy the overpriced baby dress (then frame it). Splurge on the ice cream cone. Be present…. And don’t forget to thank God for the blessing of your babies every single day!

The Christmas Set strikes again! What do I love about it? Why should you book a lil mini?

Well, no other photographers can use this studio or any of the sets, so you can rest assured that *everyone and their mom* won’t have the same exact photos. I also like to switch things up, so I’ll continue to add new twists. There will be FOUR trees once all of Xmas is set up and they’ll all have very different vibes.

I also have Christmas outfits for boys and girls up to age 5, new horses, props, Santa wooden seats, and some surprises.

Okay, this is the last - most random reason - to book a shoot (trust me, Chat GPT couldn’t even with this)—- honestly it’s something to do with kids 😆😆😆 sometimes I get tired of the zoo? The park? The pool? It gives you something fun — an activity to do with your kiddos to slice up the day. That’s why I love photoshoots! They’re honestly just a BLAST!
