NEW RELEASE: As World War I rages, six artists are called to New York City to master the art of visual deception in a newly formed division of the army: the Women’s Reserve Camouflage Corps. When Nadine, a sheltered young painter, volunteers for the project, she finds herself among women who make art in all different mediums, who must undergo rigorous military training to conceal people and equipment. But while they learn to make objects disappear under the leadership of a sympathetic lieutenant, the women begin to wrestle with what it means to be unseen themselves. Skeptical senior officers try to undermine them at every turn, and tensions begin to rise among them. Can they come together as a unit to use the art of camouflage to save lives in the field? And if they do, who will tell their story? The legacy of unsung women comes to life with exciting theatrical imagery in this unique historical drama. Camoufleurs was developed through the Stage Partners One-Act Play Commission program with EdTA, and workshopped with a cast of Thespians from across the country at International Thespian Festival 2026, culminating in a premiere staged reading.
