As we draw closer to the end of our training season I’m reminded of just why we do this. I get to teach gun school to awesome people along side of some of the best humans I have ever met.

You Suck, It’s Not The Gun (YSINTG) is an eye-opening class that isolates the two fundamentals needed to get a hit—sight alignment and trigger control—then brings them together to help students understand the complete shot process. The improvement we see from students in just this one class is truly amazing.

Answering the challenge from @mdfi_brandon on the Tripple Bill Drill! Not my best work, but I'll still take it. 5yds, 15yds, and 20yds. Hit factor score of 6.62. More to come from the team at @barracks616 ! Passing the challenge along to the fine folks at @uncoiledrangeandcpl and @centermassinc from my neck of the woods !

Had an absurdly good time running @mdfitraining Low Light Handgun and Low Light Long Gun this weekend with @mdfi_roman out at @spectaclelakeoutdoorclub

Two nights of locked in shooters did the damn thing. Thanks to everyone who came out and made the weekend what it was.

Truly love running our "advanced" (quotation marks because shooting is shooting, but environments can change) level of classes for our Alumni. Getting people started on their path is crazy rewarding, and we are very blessed to be able to do so for so many people. But there's a whole lot more to the game than the basics, and it's great to see people stay hungry and get after it when the conditions are less than perfect.

Next weekend we're in West Olive MI for a YSINTG and the last Foundation Shotgun of the year.

Life is good.

Reminder to get up and dry fire so you can make gnarly tactical IG posts like this 🤘🏻

But for real you see the result of consistent practice/ fine tuning in aquick reel.

I love live fire but I love dry firing just as much. The micro-adjustments and refinement starts there. Then pressure tested on a timer with live fire.

Derek Jeter (beloved Yankee & bi-racial angel) didn’t become the greatest SS in baseball by just singing train songs. 🚂🚂

This has been my teaching/training workhorse for the better part of the last 4-5 years. Recently needed the grip freshened up and @greatlakescw knocked it out of the park yet again. Big thanks to Brad for the years of continued support and spreading the message of the importance of training and being a responsibly armed citizen.

Shot from this weekends @mdfitraining Cover and Movement class after the signature MDFI rain shower. @trexicotrek is retired and claims he wasn’t in the area but people are asking…

6 years ago I tried MSP black belt standards for the first time. That day after class the dry fire started and it hasn’t stopped.

Over that time I’ve come close to getting the standards in front of Scott and got the 3/4 patches and sweatshirt (unlike @mdfi_tim).

Yesterday, I got this goal scratched off the list! Today the training to get better continues! Special thank you to Scott, AJ, & Hunter for changing me as a shooter; and coaching, teaching, and mentoring me in this industry! 🤘🏻

Recently got my @uscca Instructor and RSO Certifications. Decided to go out and run the Instructor qual again, while also doing the Protector Academy Level 1, 2, and 3 Quals (with slight modification for safety). Not a bad way to spend some range time.

From the Genesee Co. Prosecutor’s Office Memorandum discussing the 28 September 2025 attack on the Grand Blanc LDS Church:

“…[Good guy with J Frame] upon hearing [bad guy’s] pick up truck crash into the wall of the church… Exited through the buildings Southwest entrance, where he observed [a victim] lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. At that time he saw [bad guy] only 10 yards away and advancing towards him carrying an AK-47 assault rifle with a pistol tucked into his belt… armed with the 38 caliber revolver, fired all five rounds…[all] rounds missed his target.” (and was unfortunately shot by badguy)

We carry handguns only because they’re convenient - not because they’re the best option for defense.

If you are not training and/or you are only training for close in scenarios, there’s lots of current real world events that should make you think it might be good to push the boundaries and stretch the legs of your little blasters. (Argue ballistics when you get your hits consistently. i.e I will take a hit with a .22 short over a miss with a Deagle 50.)

This “exercise” was shot using a @shield.arms ROC equipped 351C J-frame out of a @phlster City Special. The first target is a couple feet away, the second target is 6 to 7 yards and the last balloon is on an IPSC steel at 50yds. My goal was to be able to hit all three within four rounds. What you were watching is my third attempt. My good friend and I designed the ROC because we wanted the ability to maximize the capabilities of a low capacity, hard to aim platform. A dot on a small (any) gun is cheating and cheat codes is the secret to life.
