A bunch of legends around this weekend for 60th Anniversary of the Dave Murray and Toni Sailer Summer Camps 😍 loved hearing so many stories from the speaker series @stephaniejdsloan @nancygreene @skithewongway @mdtsports put on by @whistlermuseum … with an auction off to win one of the Murr’s signed posters (congrats Shellie!) to raise friends for the new museum !! (Donate if you can to keep Whistler’s stories and culture alive …!)

Great couple of laps with the legends too, then seemed fitting to finally capture something special we’ve been scheming for a while with Mama Steph and @mountainlifemedia @shaunalhardy crew to top the legendary ski day off … more on that later 🫣

The only sad part is there isn’t any summer skiing anymore … save the glaciers @protectourwinters … get @hookedonplants 🫶❤️

was just announced and
Surf Park Management’s partner, Skip Taylor (@mdtsports ) will be moderating the panel focused on “Membership Models in Surf Parks”. From Private Club’s tied to real estate and Memberships offering Equity to Member Owned models and Private Clubs operated as corporate entities, there are pro’s and con’s for a developer to consider with each of the various iterations including planning to operate as a fully private club or a semi- private facility. We’ll discuss how a surf park’s business plan can use a membership model to unlock a higher return on investment. We’ll also discuss the physical facilities and customer demands that are required to service what is your most loyal customers with each of these models. We look forward to seeing our industry ohana September 1st-3rd at Virginia Beach! Joining Skip on the panel will be:

A flash back, way back to the late 1980s when I first met Bill Clark. He was a Molson Masters ski racer and I was a volunteer on the crew.
Then in 2009 I met his adult son (Owen) and we became friends and I re met Bill again in 2012. We shared many meals, drinks, laughs and time just hanging out.
Bill would stop by our lake place on his way north annually on his pilgrimage to Canada from Baja Sur Mexico and often stop on his way south to his home.

You'll be missed my friend, but I'm honored to be in Los Barrilles to celebrate you with your son's and their spouses and your grandkids! LOVE YA PAL

Congratulations to the team @surfparkcentral for raising the bar at this year’s Surf Park Summit in Virginia Beach! An ideal showcase of the evolution of our industry by having the conference alongside all attendees being able to immerse ourselves in the word’s latest surf park @atlanticparksurf - part of a $300M mixed use development that is completely revitalizing Virginia Beach! A very cool surprise was having Adam Neumann (WeWork) drop in for a quick classic tech bro stage walk and his past as an investor in Wavegarden back in the day and his continued passion to integrate surf parks in his latest vision of utopian communities. A big thanks to @blakehess , Nate Stevens and Beach Street Holdings, @l_g_ for being great hosts to us at the surf park. And SPM’s co-founder Skip Taylor @mdtsports was stoked to be the host of a very informative panel session with the top operators in the world f. @blakehess , @cococolombo , Mike Schwabb, @redtide83 (Cheyne Magnusson) & Michi Schweiger)

The future for this industry we have all been talking about since the first Surf Park Summit in 2013 has arrived and it’s going to be a very exciting next 5 years for all of us who have been nurturing this category along. Yewww!!!!!

The weather has cooled but through the rain emerges golden sunsets and incredible cloud displays.

Had the most beautiful and fun dinner last night w dear friends @cafemalabar.ca - reminded me of how food is a gateway to our senses and how that transports us (for me, back home to India) :)

The panel he will moderate is “Optimizing Surf Park Operations: Efficiency, Profitability, & Scaling” on November 6. At 1:30pm. Skip will be joined by surf park industry veterans like @blakehess of @beachstreetholdings , @redtide83 of @endlesssurfofficial , @cococolombo of @alaia.bay , @michi.mohr from @o2surftownmuc and Michael Schwaab from @wacosurf_tx . Skip will bring sure to bring out key insights from this group of experts and add his insights from Surf Park Management’s 8-years of working in this exciting space.

The team from Surf Park Management is fresh off a great week at Surf Park Summit, brought to us by our friends from @surfparkcentral Over 300 industry leaders gathered and our nascent industry is truly at a tipping point with so many experienced developers and sophisticated investors now in the space. Skip and Cate led presentations to give insights on how the integration of a hotel operation needs to strategically align with the surf park operation. They also provided an in-depth exploration of the various private club models and how they can be a great strategy to launch a surf park. Looking forward to Surf Park Summit Europe coming next May in Munich!!
