Happy International Women’s Day!
A day to honour women, our strength, our wisdom, our resilience, and the quiet ways we hold so much of the world together.
Women carry stories within them. Stories of courage, tenderness, survival, creation, and love that move through generations.
But today is also a moment to pause and remember that the journey toward justice and safety for women is not yet complete.
Across the world, many women continue to face violence, inequality, and the devastating reality of feminicide. And for many, particularly Indigenous women, Black women, and other marginalised communities, these struggles are often even more profound, shaped by the lasting impacts of racism, colonisation, and systemic injustice.

These truths remind us that celebrating women must also mean standing for justice, dignity, and safety for all women.
May we continue to lift one another, listen deeply, and walk together toward a world where every woman and girl can live freely and without fear.

Today we celebrate women.
And we continue the work.

My face became a portal.

Each white line, a river of memory.
Each black line, a breath of the unknown.
Painted not for beauty, but for remembrance
of the drumbeat beneath the cobblestones,
of the salt air speaking the language of ancestors.

In Salvador, Bahia,
the body becomes shrine,
and I walked the streets with braided silence,
carrying the hum of the orixás in my chest.

The sun carved symbols into my skin.
The city sang through me.
Not with words
but with wind, rhythm, sweat,
and the unseen voices who still dance in the shade of ceibas.

This image is not just me
it is the map of a resonance.
A witness to the codes that awaken
when you let the land speak first.

Meu rosto se tornou um portal.

Cada linha branca, um rio de memória.
Cada linha preta, um sopro do desconhecido.
Pintada não para a beleza, mas para a lembrança —
do tambor que pulsa sob as pedras da rua,
do ar salgado que fala a língua dos ancestrais.

Em Salvador, Bahia,
o corpo vira santuário,
e caminhei pelas ruas com o silêncio trançado,
carregando o som dos orixás no peito.

O sol gravou símbolos na minha pele.
A cidade cantou através de mim.
Não com palavras
mas com o vento, o ritmo, o suor,
e as vozes invisíveis que ainda dançam à sombra das ceibas.

Esta imagem não sou apenas eu
é o mapa de uma ressonância.
Uma testemunha dos códigos que despertam
quando deixamos a terra falar primeiro.
