Building muscle matters to me .. but so does feeling good in the body I’m building 🤍

For a long time, I struggled with bloating, digestive issues and feeling like my stomach could change dramatically from one day to the next.

And when you’re working hard in the gym, that can be frustrating.

You want to eat enough to grow.

You want to fuel your training.

But you also want to feel comfortable after a meal.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that a food being “healthy” doesn’t automatically mean it agrees with your body.

The foods shown in this post are the foods that agree with me right now - but your choices might look different.

So, while I hope this gives you a bit of an insight into what I’m doing…

It’s important to discover what works for YOU .. and then build a realistic and sustainable plan around those foods.

Because knowing which foods to choose is one thing…

But then actually knowing how much to eat, how to turn them into meals, and whether you’re eating enough for your goals is where it can get overwhelming!

That’s a huge part of why we created Meal Engine.

You choose the foods you enjoy, tell it about your goals and dietary needs, and it builds your personalised meal plan - with meals and portions mapped out so you know what to eat each day.

Less time trying to piece it all together.

More confidence in how you’re fuelling your body.

If you’ve been training hard but still guessing with your food…

Back day! Plus a little look at the breakfast that fuels it 👉

Yes… those are crushed rice cakes 👀

I used to have oats for breakfast .. but I found they were upsetting my gut 😩

So I found an alternative and gave rice cakes a try instead!

I crush them up and mix them with protein powder, as well as some blueberries and almond butter 🥣

It tastes delicious, sits so much better in my stomach, and has become my favourite breakfast and pre-workout meal 👌

I plug all my food into the @mealengine app which tracks my calories and macros 📲

It also has an AI Coach that can help you plan your meals and actually find foods that agree with you 🫶

The body you see in the first photo isn’t a body that needed to be “fixed” .. but it was a body that needed to be listened to 🤍

For a long time, I struggled with bloating, digestive issues and feeling like my stomach could change dramatically from one day to the next!

And if you’ve ever experienced this - you know how frustrating it can be.

You can be training hard.

You can be eating “healthy.”

You can be doing everything you think you’re supposed to be doing…

…and still feel uncomfortable, bloated and inflamed.

For me, addressing my gut health made a huge difference.

And one of the biggest things I’ve learned is that gut health isn’t just about one food or following some restrictive “gut-healing” diet.

It can be influenced by so many things:

- What foods your body tolerates well
- Your overall diet and fibre intake
- How consistently you’re eating
- Stress and cortisol
- Poor or insufficient sleep
- Alcohol and highly processed foods
- Changes in hormones
- And, for some people, underlying digestive issues that need individual attention

The answer isn’t to eat less and punish yourself until your stomach is flat.

It’s to understand your body and learn how to eat in a way that supports it.

That’s actually a huge part of why we created Meal Engine.

Meal Engine isn’t just another calorie tracker that tells you what you shouldn’t eat.

It’s designed to help you understand your nutrition, track what you’re eating, and give you guidance so you can make better decisions without having to figure everything out yourself.

Because I know how overwhelming it can feel when you’re thinking:

“What am I supposed to eat?”
“Why does this food make me feel terrible?”
“Am I eating enough?”
“Why am I bloated again?”

I’ve been there.

Meal Engine is the tool I wish I had when I was trying to work all of this out myself.

So, if you’re constantly fighting your body, maybe it’s time to stop fighting it and start listening to it.

Let the Engine help 👉 @mealengine

🚨 BIG NEWS 👉 We built an app I genuinely wish existed years ago.

For a long time, nutrition was probably the part of fitness I struggled with the most.

I’ve worked with some incredibly knowledgeable coaches over the years and tried just about every approach.

And to be fair, most of them worked.

The problem was — I could never sustain them forever.

Eventually life would get busy, the plan would stop fitting, and I’d feel like I was back at square one again.

So after 15 years of doing this, I came to a pretty simple conclusion:

The perfect diet is the one you’ll actually do.

Not the one that looks best on paper.

Not the one your favourite fitness person follows.

The one that works with YOUR lifestyle, preferences and goals — and can adapt when your life changes.

That idea became the foundation of @mealengine 🍽️

We kept coming back to the same question:

Why does personalised nutrition still have to be so complicated?

Unless you’re working one-on-one with a coach, most people end up relying on calorie trackers — and if you’ve ever tracked everything you eat, you’ll know how quickly it can become another job.

So we wanted to build something different.

Something that makes logging simple, while also helping you understand what actually needs to change.

That’s where The Engine comes in.

You can talk to it or photograph your food, it helps log what you’re eating, and it can adjust your nutrition targets around your actual progress.

For me, Meal Engine was never about creating another calorie tracker.

It was about building the kind of nutrition support I always wished I had — personalised, flexible and realistic enough to actually live with.

@mealengine is officially live, and you can currently try it FREE by joining through our website 👉 mealengine.com

And whether you use it or not, if there’s one thing to take away from everything I’ve learned, it’s this:

Stop searching for the perfect diet.
Find the one that fits your life.

In one of these photos I was eating 30g of carbs per day.

In the other I was eating around 200g.

Can you guess which is which?

(Comment below)

Most people assume low carb = leaner.

But that’s not always how it works.

A few years ago I went very low carb.

Not because I wanted to get lean - but because I was dealing with severe gut issues and inflammation.

Low carb helped me heal.

It reduced bloating.

Cleared brain fog.

Stabilised my energy.

It was the right tool at the right time.

But here’s what people miss…

Lowering carbs is a tool.

It’s not the solution to everything.

When I transitioned back to moderate to higher carbs (strategically) everything shifted again.

My training improved.

My performance improved.

My recovery improved.

Carbs aren’t good or bad.

They’re fuel.

Rather than demonising carbs - use them strategically.

That’s exactly why I created a simple framework inside our new free @mealengine guide:

“How Many Carbs Should You Actually Eat?”

Inside I break down:

✔️ When low carb genuinely helps
✔️ When it backfires
✔️ How to reintroduce carbs without panicking about water weight
✔️ How to structure training, rest & refeed days
✔️ How to calculate your own numbers

PS. Meal Engine is SO close to launching… and this is exactly the problem we built it to solve.

I thought that I was doing all the right things…

But I was constantly struggling with bloating, inflammation & I was exhausted (on the left image).

Just to clarify - this isn’t about which photo looks better.

The difference isn’t so much about the body shape…

It’s about what was going on internally.

But clearly - Internal changes lead to external results.

On the left image - I felt like I’d been hit by a truck.

Tired. Sluggish
Most of all - frustrated.

I’d get dressed in the morning and have to change three times because I felt uncomfortable and nothing sat right.

I was working so hard.

I was eating enough protein.

Tracking my meals.

Training 6-7 days a week.

On paper .. everything looked perfect.

But here’s what nobody tells you…

Simply hitting your calories & protein doesn’t automatically mean your gut is happy.

It doesn’t account for the foods that are triggering water retention and inflammation.

And ladies - it definitely doesn’t adjust for where you are in your cycle!

You can eat “clean”, hit your protein, do everything right .. and your body can still push back.

In the right image…

I stopped just “ticking boxes” and started paying attention to what my body actually needed.

The minerals.
The micronutrients.
The electrolytes.
Rest. Sleep. Recovery.

I doubled down on foods that supported my gut as well as my hormones.

I completely changed my approach on how I trained and fuelled my body.

And it’s one of the best things I have ever done.

Now, I finally have my energy back again and feel like a healthier version of “me”.

I know I’m not alone when it comes to digestive issues and poor gut health.

So, in preparation of our upcoming launch @mealengine 👉 I have put together a free 7-Day De-Bloat Protocol to help get you feeling more comfortable in your skin 🙏

Inside it, I break down the 5 hidden triggers behind water retention that “eating clean” won’t fix and exactly how to address them.

No calorie cutting. No restriction.

Just giving your body what it’s been asking for all along.

Download it now using the link in my bio.

PS. If this helps - just wait until you see what we’ve been building with the Meal Engine App 🤩
