Thanks so much to everyone who came out last Friday to @mediasanctuary to share space and vibrations with me. I was so touched by the generosity of your presence and time.

Together, we raised funds for our siblings in Sudan and Palestine. Please scroll through to see the words of Sara @bsonblast about the urgent need for funds to get hygiene kits to women and girls in Sennar, Sudan. There is a goal to raise $2,000 to be able to provide these for them asap. If you have the ability to donate towards this urgent effort then please venmo @bsonblast whatever you can. Sara has been at the forefront of covering and explaining the war and humanitarian crisis in Sudan and helping to make necessary connections for direct aid on the ground.

Half of the funds raised from the show went to @combcutters who @yesfolk will be hosting an additional fundraiser for on Sunday.

THE TIME FOR DENIAL IS OVER.

A new exhibition by artist Nicole Chochrek with participation from the community opens on October 23rd 6P-9P ♻️

Nicole has been collecting plastic from the environment and creatively exhibiting that collection since 2022. This installation will bring together 10,000–30,000 pieces of plastic collected through the micro-plastic recycling bins.

Here’s the part we really love: over 100 community members have contributed to this installation. What started as collected waste has become a collaborative artwork, bringing together people, materials, and stories from our community.

FSD.TEMP Takeover: Photo dump of the past year working on Hyper Local Robotic Enanglements. We are so grateful for the funding opportunity to work on such a big idea. Deep thanks to everyone involved, @archleague and @capregionartscenter for grant funding, NATURElab @mediasanctuary for two beautiful fall days in the garden and backyard, and all of the community members who participated.

Hyper-Local Robotic Entanglements (HLRE) is a research project that merges modern emerging technologies with ancient earthen building materials in ways that respond to and collaborate with our existing environment, enabling a site responsive and more cost-effective building process than previously explored in robotics-enabled construction-scale building. This trans-disciplinary project is both a series of participatory activations and a research project, exploring community-accessible manufacturing technology using hyper local materials.

Output: Backyard-bot is a custom robotic system that moves within a tensioned cable gantry system. This version has a gripper attached for the movement & precise arrangement of building components like earthen bricks. The lightweight cable gantry frame allows for installation between temporary tieback points and adapts to uneven ground through sensor feedback and computational path refinement.

This iteration of HLRE includes 2 public workshops sited at NATURE Lab in North-Central Troy, NY, a public repository of open-source files (link in bio), and a zine series.

Hyper-Local Robotic Entanglements is a project led by FSD.TEMP that explores the design and implementation of a DIY backyard robot to build with natural materials gathered from local sources. HLRE explores how to encourage the tangibility of emerging technologies through public engagement and physical artifacts.

Elizabeth Kolbert will speak on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 3:45 PM at the 9th Annual Albany Book Festival.

Kolbert is one of America’s best-known journalists covering the climate crisis and the natural world. Her new book is Life on a Little-Known Planet: Dispatches from a Changing World (2025), a landmark collection of her most important pieces, and a New Yorker “Best Book of the Year.”
