Sound & Vision Artist Highlight - Megan Rea Lot 21. We Fell into the Sun, 2026, Oil and Acrylic on Wood,15 × 21 cm Megan Rea’s practice draws on familial myths, frescoes and archaeological artefacts, approaching painting as a process of excavation. Through scraping, cutting and layering, buried images emerge from fields of colour, revealing traces of memory, history and the stories we inherit. Rea holds an MA in Fine Art from City & Guilds of London Art School and a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Edinburgh College of Art. Her exhibitions include The Hands That Feed at Stellarhighway, New York, and The Calling at Arusha Gallery, Edinburgh (2024). Her work has also been exhibited at MXM Gallery, Madrid; The Florence Trust, London; and The Koppell Project, London. Her awards include the 2024 Stanley Picker Scholarship and the 2023 Morrison Foerster (London) Art Prize. @warchilduk presents Sound & Vision, curated by @aoapprojects. Each year, Sound & Vision invites leading contemporary artists to create original works inspired by a single iconic song lyric, this year from @PaulMcCartney and Wings track ‘Band on the Run'. The artworks are then auctioned to raise vital funds for War Child's work protecting, educating and standing up for the rights of children affected by conflict. Chosen by Paul himself, the line this year is, “Well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash as we fell into the sun” Inspired by these words, 61 of today's most exciting contemporary artists have created 80 original artworks, each offering a unique interpretation of the lyric. 🔗 Register to bid via the link in our bio 📅 Online auction with @indy.auction 27 October - 12 November 🖼️ View the artworks in person at @iconicimagesgallery 5 - 7 November 📸 Artwork Photography by @ollieharrop

Megan Rea is our artist of this drop and we are thrilled to have some of her works available. Her work draws on a familial tale of buried money combined with frescoes she encountered whilst studying in Florence. Her fragmentary pieces are enigmatic and draw us in, evoking the erosion of memory and the traces it leaves behind. Find out more through the link in our bio!
