As a woman who has spent most of my life in sports, this ad bothered me—not because women can’t be beautiful, confident or sexy. We absolutely can.

It bothered me because women have spent generations fighting to be included in sports, then fighting to be taken seriously once we got here. We want to be recognized for our strength, skill, intelligence, leadership and athletic ability—not just our appearance.

So if the message is ā€œjust sports,ā€ why does the ad need to sexualize a woman to get attention?

There are better ways to make sports compelling: show the training, strategy, rivalries, teamwork and years of work behind the performance. Hire female athletes, coaches and analysts. Let women tell their own stories.

Women’s sports are already proving their value. They’re projected to generate $3 billion globally in 2026, yet less than 10% of brands’ sports media investment goes toward them.

Women can be beautiful, confident and sexy—and also powerful, skilled, strategic, competitive and capable.

If it’s really about sports, show us the sport. The performance is impressive enough.
