This September, the Global Melanoma Coalition (GMC) gathered in Baltimore, Maryland, for its annual meeting, bringing together melanoma leaders from around the world to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships and explore new opportunities to advance melanoma awareness, research and patient support on a global level. The meeting welcomed melanoma patient advocacy organizations from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Portugal, Armenia, Brazil, Italy, Israel and Austria.

Coalition members engaged in meaningful discussions on topics including advances and future directions in cellular therapies for melanoma, innovative approaches to sun safety education through the Sunguarding® Framework, national supportive care and patient navigation models, combating melanoma misinformation on social media, rare melanoma treatment challenges across borders and the impact of global drug pricing on patient access and innovation. Attendees also had the unique opportunity to tour Dr. Janis Taube and Dr. Joel Sunshine's Johns Hopkins University melanoma research laboratory, gaining firsthand insight into the groundbreaking scientific work driving the next generation of melanoma treatments and discoveries.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the meeting a success. The conversations, connections and collaborations sparked in Baltimore will continue to make an impact long after the meeting ends.

This summer, as part of our ongoing commitment to crew welfare, PSA has been providing suncream on-site at a number of events across the UK — from independent festivals to large-scale productions.

But suncream is only one piece of the sun safety puzzle. We've been working with the Melanoma Fund on a wider sun and heat safety campaign, focused on practical, usable guidance for outdoor production environments.

That work feels especially timely this week: a Red Heat Health Alert is in effect across much of England. Suncream is essential, but please also know the signs of heat stroke:
🔴 Headache, dizziness or confusion
🔴 Nausea or vomiting
🔴 Rapid heartbeat or breathing
🔴 Hot, red skin with no sweating
🔴 Feeling faint or collapsing

Stay hydrated, take shade breaks where you can, and check in on the people around you. If someone shows signs of heat stroke, treat it as a medical emergency.

As the weather gets warmer, girls taking part in sport can be at increased risk of sunburn, dehydration and heat-related illness. Building good sun safety habits early helps protect their health now and in the future.

Being a sole trader in a little fledgling business means I’m responsible for everything I do to bring outdoor strength training circuits in Brecon and Hay-on-Wye.

Today is one of those jobs that mean I get to do an in depth audit on how my kit is looking, any wear and tear, etc.

Being outside is 1️⃣ for me and it’s why I offer purely outdoor fitness classes so that others, like me who just love being outside can get fit and strong with nature all around🍃

Although I’m usually out a lot earlier when it’s not so hot! And is why I’m having a break indoors with a giant 🧊 water!

With kit in mind, I have a duty of care to ensure everyone’s safety but it goes further than that with weather also being a consideration.

That’s why earlier this year I completed the @melanomafund Sunguarding Course: Sun and heat protection for all in sports and outdoor recreation.

So when it’s time for Friday’s 13:15 session in Brecon, I plan the circuit in shady spots of King George V playing fields and ensure I advise participants to arrive hydrated, bring plenty of water and wear appropriate clothing.

Being outside also enables me to keep costs down with BoSs! classes available from just £7!
