Some souls find each other once, and that’s enough to change a life.

I watched Mel laugh the way you only do when you’re with someone who knows every version of you. The quiet one. The messy one. The one who needs fresh air after a hard day. The one who celebrates the little things. Scootcha has been there for all of it, never asking for anything except to be close.

Dogs have this beautiful way of reminding us what love is supposed to feel like. It isn’t complicated. It doesn’t keep score. It doesn’t care what kind of day you had or what you look like. It just runs to you with its whole heart, every single time.

There was something so gentle about photographing these two. Every frame felt less like posing and more like witnessing a friendship that has been built in thousands of ordinary moments. Walks at sunset. Dirt on his paws. Windows rolled down. Quiet mornings. Coming home to the same wagging tail.

I think we’re so lucky to love a dog, even knowing they never get to stay long enough. Somehow they fit an entire lifetime of loyalty into the years we’re given with us. They ask for so little, but give us absolutely everything. Scootcha has the kind of eyes that tell you he’d follow Mel anywhere, and I have no doubt he would.

These photos will always remind me that some of the greatest love stories don’t need grand gestures. Sometimes they look like a girl wrapped around her very best friend in the middle of a field, smiling because she’s exactly where she’s meant to be, with the one who has loved her so faithfully all along.

Mel & Scootcha. Just as they are. And I don’t think there’s anything sweeter than that. 🤍

Forever a pinch me moment 🥹

Here’s your sign to get uncomfortable, put yourself out there and believe in yourself. I started Sunday Social Run Club one day just hoping to connect with a few people who liked running. I just wanted to build community in my hometown. I didn’t start it with some big vision of what it is now. I simply started and thought I’ll see where it goes.

At the beginning I questioned myself so many times. Who am I to do this? Should I even be doing this? I thought about shutting it down multiple times. And honestly, I still have those thoughts sometimes.

But I am so glad I kept going. The community, the friendships, the growth and the opportunities that have come from it mean everything to me.

My local lululemon believed in me and in what I was building here in Nanaimo. They believed in my vision of using running to bring people together for connection and health. They believed in the same girl who lacked confidence and did not have it all figured out. For two years Nanaimo lululemon stood by my side and said “Keep Going, Sarah”.

The last two years with lululemon have been so special and I am beyond grateful for this chapter.

So this is your reminder. Keep going. Try new things. Put yourself out there. Choose growth. People might judge you and you might ruffle some feathers along the way, but that is part of it.

Stop doubting yourself and start believing in yourself. You never know where it might lead. 🤍

Fun fact. You do not need to be a professional at something to start. I started with zero skill and little run experience, just a love for connecting people and moving my body. The rest came over time.

Popped into @lululemon to celebrate 10 years of Align – a staple in my movement journey. Brought my best friend Hailey with me, who’s been there since day one (literally—she was my roommate when I came home one random Thursday and said, “I think I’m going to start a run club.” She didn’t even blink, just said “Do it” and cheered me on).

They say it’s all about the little things. And I couldn’t agree more. But it’s also about the big things. The people who show up for you. Laughter. Feeling special. Feeling pretty. Feeling celebrated.

Those are big and important and life changing too. I’m 31 now. And I’m trying to be a little less ‘this is missing from my life’ and a little more ‘my life is so lucky to have _____’. Because I am so lucky. Especially to have ladies like these by my side - @blueeyed_panda @frenchkissevents @beckywulff @breecheesie @haley_punt @julessonntag @melodie.dolbec @minkpierson @robyn__bell @syldol444. You’re all one of a kind. Truly kind. And kind of a big deal. Thank you for making me feel like the luckiest birthday girl & bride in the world (even - especially - when plans change and emotions run high/wild/overtime). I’m honoured to know each and every single one of you and to be blessed with being a little part of your lives.

Here’s to the little things. The big things. The birthdays. Best friends. And everything in between.
