I've shot with all sorts of lenses in the ocean over the years, but recently I've been spending more time with the TTArtisan 75mm f/2.

It's right around the focal length I naturally gravitate towards, so it felt familiar from the first session. I love the reach and compression that 75mm offers in the water, it gives images a more intimate, artistic feel that I don't quite get from wider lenses.

Whether I'm capturing a breaking wave from further back, photographing shoreline scenes, or getting in close for surf action, it always offers a unique perspective. On top of that, I really enjoy the compact setup a prime lens gives me in the water.

It's definitely a lens that'll be sticking with me for ocean shoots.

Earlier this year, I was lucky enough to spend my winter in Japan with @a.i.r.myoko . Japan has held a special place in my heart ever since my first visit a few years ago, but this trip felt even more special.

The snow quality was, of course, incredible, with long days spent chasing fresh powder. But what really made the experience memorable were the people I got to share it with. Morning chats in the onsen as the sun rose, incredible meals cooked by talented chefs, carving lines down the mountain with snowboarders and skiers well beyond my ability, and winding down over sake and umeshu with a game of chess at @superetto_myoko . It was the perfect way to experience another side of Japan.

Here are a few photographs from my time in Myoko, both on and off the mountain.

What’s the difference between our Orkan and Hurricane swimsuits? 🤔
