Got lucky to order and to receive the first few copies of the brand-new book LIGHT by Nathan Orsman, the renowned professional in light design. Most of the photographs in the book are by Michael Stavaridis, whom we happen to work with and to get the majority of our online portfolio photos from. We were particularly proud to find images of our beloved project by BatesMasi Architects, where we glazed the entire house with the windows we supply on the first few pages of this book. They were projects, referenced in the book, by other prominent architects whom we have collaborated with in the past and most definitely will collaborate with in the future. This post is not a fluke, we’ve been there, we had rights to photos shown alongside legally acquired, and for some hard-core septics we are including photos taken during the construction phase of the project. It’s not a Super Intelligence, it’s all 100% true and verified images. #modernarchitecture #kellerminimalwindows® #smartglassincfl #nathanorsman #michaelstavaridis

This East Hampton home takes its cues from the Shingle Style houses that have long defined the area, but a closer look reveals some unexpected geometry. Traditional cedar shingles wrap sharply sculpted forms, including the deeply recessed opening carved into the gable. As we close out the summer, we're looking back at the progress made over the past several months—from the first structural members rising from the foundation to the final levels of steel taking shape overhead. This project has included a substantial mix of structural steel: W10 wide-flange beams, HSS columns and perimeter members, transfer framing, cantilevered steel, and a 33'-7¾" custom plate girder weighing approximately 7,000 lbs. What started as a foundation and a collection of fabricated pieces has quickly become a full structural system—each level building on the last and every member playing a role in the overall load path. These drone shots give a pretty good perspective on just how much has changed over the course of the summer BUILDER: @menatworkconstructioncorp ARCHITECT: @leroystreetstudio ENGINEER: @tylininternational

This is a house designed to evolve with the dunes…Named “Walking Dunes,” this Amagansett oceanfront home responds to its ever-changing landscape with four cedar-clad volumes and innovative steel “sand fences” that collect blowing sand, allowing dunes to naturally form over time. Previously, we showed our structural shop team fabricating this custom 33'-7¾" plate girder, built from 1" thick flanges and a 1" thick web and weighing approximately 7,000 lbs. Now, that massive member is in place on site, becoming a key part of the home's structural framing. The girder is designed to carry significant loads across a long span, working as a primary structural member within the framing system. With the surrounding steel and wood framing tying into it, its placement is critical to establishing the load path for the structure above. Good reminder that what happens on the shop floor is just the first half of the story. Peak summer on the East End is about more than beautiful homes. It’s about celebrating thoughtful design, a connection to the landscape, and the people who bring both to life. In this issue, step inside an Amagansett home designed to protect and celebrate its surrounding beach dunes. Then, go inside HC&G’s sponsored BIRDHAUS event orchestrated by @laguardia_design in Water Mill, where architects, designers, and artists came together to create bespoke birdhouses for a good cause. Our field crew is now erecting the uppermost structural steel for this custom East End residence, bringing the primary steel frame to its full height. With the lower levels complete and the second-floor deck in place, the final phase of structural steel includes the roof framing system—a coordinated layout of wide-flange beams, HSS members, transfer framing, and cantilevered steel designed to support the home's expansive rooflines and open architectural spaces. Throughout the structure, beam elevations, connection locations, and framing geometry are carefully coordinated to integrate with the wood framing and roof system that follows. Watching this project progress from foundation steel to the completed structural frame has been rewarding. One level at a time, our team continues turning engineered drawings into reality. More progress to come as we move into the remaining structural areas of the project. BUILDER: @menatworkconstructioncorp ARCHITECT: @leroystreetstudio ENGINEER: @tylininternational

Some beams carry more than steel — they carry the whole plan. Our structural shop crew laid out and fully welded this custom plate girder from start to finish, top and bottom flanges both. At 33'-7¾" long with 1" thick flanges and web, this single member weighs in at approximately 7,000 lbs. Once it's set, this girder will serve as a main beam of the house — running unsupported for a stretch before the rest of the framing ties in around it. Precision welding and layout work like this is what makes that kind of span possible. BUILDER: @menatworkconstructioncorp ARCHITECT: @leroystreetstudio ENGINEER: @tylininternational

Thrilled to see our Bridgehampton Beach House as one of the lovely houses featured in 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴, published by @betapluspublishing. This residence is designed on a 90’ by 90’ nine-square grid, with a 30’ by 30’ open courtyard at its center. The courtyard creates a serene cloister-like atmosphere that blurs the boundaries between indoors and out. We keep returning to the joy of designing this house, particularly the mathematically beautiful two-story porch, which cantilevers from the second-floor volume. ✨ This house also stands as a testament to our never-ending pursuit of light. A wonderful collaboration made possible by our Clients and: @laguardia_design (landscape) @menatworkconstructioncorp (contractor) Photography by @raimund.koch

The second floor is taking shape. 🏗️ Steel decking is down on the second floor of this ongoing structural install — the next phase of a job that's been built right from the ground up. From the wide flange beams and HSS members below to the deck going on above, every phase of this build has been precision laid out and coordinated by our structural field crew. Low-slung massing, pocketing doors that erase the division of indoors and out, combined with stadium seating built into the deck, a variety of seating options...pretty much a perfect invitation to linger.
