For this month’s featured WATERPERSON , I had the pleasure of interviewing award-winning drone photographer @joannasteidle

Joanna’s photography brings us face-to-face with incredible wildlife interactions, including spinner sharks, humpback whales, fever rays and dolphin pods. But her work also shines a vital light on urgent coastal ecology issues, like the collapse of menhaden, a crucial keystone species, due to overfishing.

We talked about the mastery required to fly drones over the open ocean, the fine art editing process + her deep roots growing up on a commercial clam boat ⛴️ right here on Long Island.

The Ospreys are starving and need us to speak up and make the AMFSC listen to us - listen to them. They’re telling us something is going really wrong in our marine environments, it’s up to us to listen and advocate for the necessary changes

The best in the world at catching bunker couldn't find any. After sailing all the way from Reedville, the fleet went home empty. A clear sign they've fished down the stock. We're all struggling now.
