South African women are going through perimenopause underprepared, underinformed and overcharged. Anxiety, depression, rage, brain fog, sleepless nights, a vagina drier than the Karoo, and too many of us are told "it's just stress" or "your bloods look normal."

And when we do find a doctor who listens? HRT is expensive, and many women simply can't afford the care their bodies need.

This isn't a luxury. It's women's health. It's our work, our relationships, our minds. And it's time we had a proper national conversation about it.

So, by royal proclamation: Thuma mina the HRT. Ke nako. 💜

Everyday there is a young girl losing precious learning time because she doesn’t have access to menstruation products.

The @menstruationfoundationza , founded by @sivngesi and Marius Basson, was created to end period poverty and make sure that no woman or girl has to choose between dignity and feeding themselves or missing out on a vital education.

I’M RUNNING MY FIRST MARATHON🏃🏾‍♀️🩸

On 18 October, I’ll be taking on 42.2km at the Nelson Mandela Marathon my very first marathon! 🥹 @nelsonmandelamarathon

But I don’t want this milestone to be just about crossing my own finish line.

I’m partnering with the @menstruationfoundationza to help provide sanitary products to girls who shouldn’t have to miss school because they can’t afford them.

By donating just R60 one girl gets enough sanitary products for the whole year.

42.2KM = 42 GIRLS.

For every kilometre I run, one girl gets to keep showing up for school, for sport, for her dreams and for her future without her period being a barrier.

Together, we can help end period poverty, one kilometre at a time. 🩸

A period should never stand between a girl and her education.

In a country so deeply affected by poverty, period poverty creates yet another barrier for millions of women and girls, affecting their dignity, their education and their opportunities.

The @menstruationfoundationza , co-founded by @sivngesi and Marius Basson, is working to change that, one R5 pack of pads at a time, helping young girls stay in school with dignity.

We had the privilege of going behind the scenes and seeing the incredible work they’re doing to tackle period poverty.

To celebrate women’s month, the Grade 6 and 7 boys ran a sanitary wear drive. We were excited to meet Marius from @menstruationfoundationza this morning to hand over donations collected.

All donations will go to help girls in under privileged communities.

A period ends a sentence, not a young girl's future! 🩸

In collaboration with the MENstruation Foundation and Cape Town Tourism, we visited Atlantis Secondary School in Cape Town and donated 1,200 sanitary pads.

In areas like Atlantis, young girls often struggle to attend school regularly because sanitary pads are unaffordable for most families. This donation, along with the work done by our collaborating organisations, seeks to end period poverty and allow young girls to attend school with no fear, no shame, and to become the women they want to be.

A huge thank you to @lovecapetown and @menstruationfoundationza for working with us on this endeavour as well as their generous donations, and to Atlantis Secondary School for having us. We hope this is only the start. ❤️

💉It Ends Now: Standing Together to End Period Poverty.

Period poverty is more than a lack of sanitary products it can affect a girl’s dignity, confidence, education and opportunities.

Etafeni Day Care Centre Trust's Director and Fundraising Officer recently had the opportunity to visit PadCo – @menstruationfoundationza in Paarl, and the experience left us truly inspired.

From seeing sanitary pads being produced at an impressive scale to learning about innovative sanitary pad vending machines and vegan sanitary products, we witnessed how innovation can become a powerful tool for creating real change.

PadCo’s work in bringing menstrual hygiene products closer to girls and women through schools, clinics and communities demonstrates what is possible when purpose, innovation and community impact come together.

A special thank you to Andries for the warm welcome and insightful factory tour, and to the entire @menstruationfoundationza team for sharing your knowledge, passion and vision with us.
