💫 check amazing profile 💫@unfold_psychology_with_annie . . How can the ABC model change negative thinking? The ABC model, used in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), helps us understand that our interpretation of a situation can influence how we feel and respond. Sometimes, without even realising it, we fall into negative thinking patterns. We might assume the worst, take things personally or jump to conclusions without having all the facts. The ABC model encourages us to slow down, recognise these automatic thoughts and consider a more balanced perspective. Five benefits of practising the ABC model 1. Increases self-awareness: Helps you recognise recurring negative thoughts and emotional triggers. 2. Reduces unhelpful thinking: Encourages you to question assumptions rather than automatically believing them. 3. Improves emotional regulation: Creates space to respond more thoughtfully instead of reacting immediately. 4. Breaks negative thinking cycles: With practice, it helps you develop more flexible and balanced interpretations. 5. Builds resilience: Supports healthier ways of responding to everyday challenges and setbacks. How often should you practise it? There is no fixed rule, but consistency can help. - Daily: Spend 5–10 minutes reflecting on a situation that affected your mood. - Whenever you notice negative thoughts: Use ABC to identify what happened, what you believed and how you responded. - Once a week: Review your notes to identify repeated patterns and notice changes over time. Remember, the goal is not to eliminate every negative thought or force yourself to think positively. It is to develop a more realistic, compassionate and balanced way of thinking. #CognitiveBehaviourTherapy #CounsellingJourney #HeartwoodCounsellingandPsychotherapyWestYorkshireUK #CounsellingSkills #Psychotherapy MentalHealthAwareness Empathy PersonalGrowth UnfoldPsychologyWithAnnie

💫 check amazing profile 💫@nvieufleury . . Mental health is something we really need to talk about more. We talk a lot about physical health, but what about the things we carry mentally and emotionally that nobody else can see? The feelings we push down, the battles we fight silently, and the days we’re struggling but still show up and pretend everything is fine. From a young age, I learned to bury my emotions and isolate myself instead of dealing with them. I kept so much inside that eventually, I reached a point where I didn’t want to be here anymore, but I didn’t want to die either. I just didn’t know how to deal with everything I was feeling, and I didn’t know how to make it stop hurting. That’s a hard thing to put into words, but it’s the truth. And I know I’m not the only person who has ever felt that way. I’ve been learning that taking care of my mental health means actually allowing myself to feel things instead of running from them. It means prioritizing self care and I’m not talking about spa days. I’m talking about therapy, learning to say no, working out, journaling, meditating, having uncomfortable conversations, and being honest about what’s going on in my head. You can’t heal from feelings you refuse to acknowledge. Avoiding them doesn’t make them disappear. Sometimes, they just come out in ways that hurt us even more. If you’re someone who bottles everything up, pushes people away when you’re struggling, or keeps telling everyone you’re fine when you’re really not, please know you don’t have to keep living that way. You’re allowed to feel your feelings. You’re allowed to ask for help. You’re allowed to take up space, set boundaries, and make your mental health a priority. You don’t have to go through everything alone. Take care of your mind, give yourself grace, and find healthy ways to work through what you’re feeling. You matter, even on the days when it doesn’t feel like it. ❤️ #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #breakthestigma #healingoutloud #realnotperfect
