The iconic Thai spot has a loooong lunch on Thu and Fri (2 to 4:30pm): Chefs Banquet and two drinks for $78pp. Not enough? There's also $25 lunch specials Mon to Fri, happy hour 4 to 7pm ($9 beers, $15 martinis) and a $79pp bottomless Sunday session. You'll never leave hungry, we promise.

**Level two: Toff in Town** 💃 @thetoffintown
Free Mambo classes every Wednesday, so you can burn off all that yummy Thai from downstairs. All levels welcome. There's a photobooth too, cute. They've got a deal most nights: $9 pints on Monday, Jazz Club on Tuesday, free entry to Toff Club until midnight on Fri and Sat, and happy hour 6 to 8pm ($15 cocktails, $9 pints).

**Floor six: Mesa Verde** 🌮 @mesaverde_
Take the elevator, trust us. Modern Mexican dining and drinking, Melbourne style. $5 tacos on Tuesday, $35 steak night on Wednesday, and for the wine lovers, Thursday's Wine and Dine: 6 plates and free-flowing wine for 90 minutes, $79. Happy hour 4 to 6pm with $10 frozen margs.

Up the staircase we go. Weekdays you can get a $22 burger, fries and a beer in the sunshine (12 to 3pm), or swing by for happy hour 4 to 6pm: $10 Guinness, $12 Bloody Shiraz Spritz, $8 wine.

Okayyy Mesa Verde steak night was actually so good 😮‍💨🥩
Really great value, heaps of flavour and such a fun atmosphere. The housemade hot sauce was probably my favourite part though… the bottle was full when we got there and nearly empty by the time we left 👀
And the cocktails? No notes.

STEAK NIGHTS — CBD EDITION 🥩

Once again, take this series with a grain of salt. These scores are based on my own visits—each to their own. Steak nights can also be inconsistent depending on the cut, chef and how busy they are.

This edition mainly covers the CBD and Docklands, with Bistro Guillaume sneaking in from Southbank. I’ll try to hit more of South Melbourne next.

7 Alfred isn’t technically a steak night because it’s available all day, every day, but its $48 scotch fillet still deserves the top spot.

Berth is the hardest to rate. When it hits, it hits at 8.5/10, but an off night can easily fall to 6/10. I always call beforehand to ask what cut is being served—the eye fillet is the standout.

Mesa Verde is easily a top-three steak night in Melbourne for me. Dessous delivered a classic European-style steak frites that I wouldn’t be disappointed paying normal French-restaurant prices for, while Berbeo surprised me with the quality of its MB5 inside skirt for $30.

At the lower end, Nixon works if quantity is your priority. Langlands looked good but gave me a chewy steak, lazy salad and tasteless sauce. Maybe an off night, but I didn’t even finish it.
