“tide rays”

a duet I got to create and perform with my dear friend @raleighg.tate for the @messengerzdance company show “WAVES” back in August.

this dance holds a special place in my heart, as it was created as a reflection of the phase of life both of us were experiencing. We created this dance as a reminder to ourselves (and others), to not fight the season God has placed us in, but to rely on Him and remember that He will carry us through.

This piece is inspired by the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3. Faced with the choice to compromise their faith or stand firm in their devotion to God, they remained unwavering, trusting Him regardless of the outcome. Though they were thrown into the fiery furnace, they were never alone—God was with them in the midst of the flames. This choreography is a reminder that faith is not the absence of trials but the confidence that God is faithful through them. It is an invitation to stand courageously, trust wholeheartedly, and remember that when we walk through the fire, our Savior walks with us.

“Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God“ (Daniel 3:28)

There’s so much about my performance in this that I want to critique and criticize. I was so insecure dancing next to these incredible girls and I felt so unqualified. But if I’ve learned anything this year it’s that I can fall at the foot of His throne broken and messy and He still calls me holy. My worship, although messy and imperfect, is a fragrant offering to Him. So thankful for @messengerzdance for always stretching me and loving on me no matter how weak I am.

🌟CONVERGENCE ARTIST SPOTLIGHT 🌟

“The vision for Messengerz is to reach the lost and broken through dance and through storytelling. We desire to connect people to have an encounter with Jesus through how they connect to our movement from either watching a performance piece or taking a class with us. We hope to simply just be a vessel that the Lord is using to bring Him praise and honor and our deepest desire is to do that to the best of our ability. We strive to push dancers out of their comfort zones to be vulnerable and emotional through their dancing, and we also desire to push dancers technically as well in their memorization skills and technical training. We feel called to dance excellence and use our platform well to make sure all eyes are pointed to Jesus!”

CLASS RECAP: Audition Class with Annie Blankenship

This experience was so special.

Yes, it was an audition. Yes, there were observers in the room. AND it was inclusive.

No cuts. Lots of encouragement. Rigor, but with care.

Both CATALYST levels came together in one space, with representatives from 12 different dance organizations observing and connecting with dancers. By the end of the experience, 45 giveaways and opportunities were awarded.

Annie was the perfect person to lead this class. She created an environment that was warm, rigorous, informative, and genuinely supportive— giving dancers the opportunity to experience the energy of an audition without losing the sense of community we wanted CATALYST to hold.

And it’s Annie, so of course it was fun!!

So grateful for the dancers, organizations, and artists who helped make this such a meaningful part of CATALYST.
