Yesterday, Rose City Hoes got out of the garden and into the city! 🌿 We volunteered at the Design Portland UNSEEN Portland Architecture exhibit in downtown, showcasing unbuilt works from more than 40 Portland architects and designers. From bold ideas to imaginative spaces, it was a great reminder that sometimes the best projects are the ones that haven’t quite taken root yet. đŸŒ±đŸ—ïž If you haven’t checked it out, now’s the time to dig in! UNSEEN Portland Architecture runs through October 17 and admission is on a sliding-scale donation, so come get inspired by the ideas growing behind the scenes of Portland’s design community. đŸŒ±âœš @design.portland #RoseCityHoes #DesignPortland #UNSEEN #Architecture

These images show the construction of the Eagle Haven Village project in Washington, a collection of tiny homes for the Lummi Nation. All the homes were built off-site in a factory and placed on their foundations with a crane. The first two views show the community center which was built on-site. Talented architects and designers, Matt and Sonny Bunza, teamed up to design my new studio space. It is only fitting that they are among the first people to be photographed in it. @metaamo

ALUMNI PROFILE: Matthew Bunza (M.Arch ‘13), founder of Metaamo Studio Read an excerpt below and the full interview at the link in bio! ‱ How did your time at MIT affect your career path? I had an amazing experience at MIT. My office Metaamo was literally conceived in Phil Freelon’s pro-prac class, and a classmate introduced me to my wife, so I’d say it had a profound effect. Even if you omit the institution, academics, and profs, just being in an environment with so many brilliant folks from all corners of the world, is a humbling and empowering experience. MIT helped me to challenge and contextualize what I do, reinforce my skills, and through its networks, connected my passion to real world problems and projects that we continue today. It’s a truly special place. ‱ What are you excited about in your career field today? The realignment of architectural education and practice towards a more meaningful, diverse, and inclusive one. The larger societal realization that design matters, and that the three-dimensional thinking we have is applicable to so many of the world’s major issues today, be it in politics, the built environment ‱ What is advice you would give to a new alum coming out of MIT? Network, especially beyond your own profession. Move your feet. Collaborate over compete. Empathy is your superpower. @metaamo @mitarchitecture @mitalumni @mbunza
