Guess who is ADOPTED!?!Millie (aka Bianca) had a very long journey since being hit by a car not once, but twice. She went through surgery and had a long recovery. She was supported by a couple of wonderful foster families in Mexico, but she couldn’t find a home. I decided I needed to bring her into my little rescue. Then the most wonderful family got in touch to let us know that they were interested in adopting this sweet girl. I cannot overstate how heartwarming this adoption is. Millie will now have two little girls as her best friends. She has other dogs to play with. She has a huge space to run around and chase balls in. She has gone from an unwanted street dog to a beloved family member. Have a happy life, Millie. You deserve it so much. #happylife #goodgirl #rescuedogsofinstagram #meximutt #happilyeverafter #adoptdontshop

This marks an end and the beginning of something wonderful. I saw this random street dog outside when coming down the stairs on a cold rainy July morning. I was running late to Pilates and almost ran out the house with no shoes on to get this dog. I don’t know why I was drawn to him. I got my raincoat and shoes on, headed out and he was gone. About 2 minutes later there he was walking behind me. He wouldn’t make eye contact, was soaking wet, sooooo dirty and looked like he may have gotten in a fight. I told him if he waited in the rain for an hour while I went to Pilates I would bring him home and give him a meal and at least let him dry off. And… he waited. A full hour. My Pilates teacher (and fellow dog rescue accomplice) opened the door to her brand new Pilates studio to this dirty soaking wet dog and he laid down and shivered… and waited. After class I walked home and he followed me. Now- he had a limp. It took forever in the rain. When I got home I gave him some water, a towel and some food. The sun came out and after 30 minutes of trying to get a leash on- he let me. Then- to my amazement, he let me give him a bath. His hair was thick with dirt and oil. The next day, we called the vet to come to the house to look at him. She said to give him a month and he would be strong enough to be neutered. Every day we gave him love, lots of pets, food, water and the remarkable progress he made was mind blowing in the first 6 weeks. He was so smart, loyal and resilient. It was like watching a soul be reborn. He lived on the streets and was a natural hunter so it wasn’t a huge surprise when he went after our cat, Meeko. He needed a lot more time for training than we could give especially with a baby who is still keeping us up every night. I began reaching out to rescues to see if they could help spread the word. In this effort I met Brittany with @mexidogrescue and many other beautiful souls who dedicate their lives to saving the street dogs and abused dogs in Mexico. Remember Milo? He was a dog who was just about to be sent back to Mexico by an Ottawa rescue because he didn’t get adopted. Well, the Fates intervened, and Milo was surrendered to Pye Dog and made his way to Toronto, where he met his amazing forever family (thanks to @mexidogrescue). Milo’s humans are dedicated dog people who are putting in the work and making him the best dog he can be. His new family, including his new sister, Shiva, already love him so much and can’t imagine life without him. It’s the perfect match. Happy Tails Milo! Your wonderful life has officially begun. #rescuedog #meximutt #thebestboi #nevergiveup #foreverfamily #adoptdontshop.
