Songs of Safety, feature no. 1: Jess Russ, Sirens in the City.

While writing this song, Jess recalled the feeling of absolute safety. She would write and sing songs in her bedroom and know her mom was on the other side of her bedroom door listening. She reflected on the fact that as we grow up, worries and stress accumulate…until the sirens in the city reminded her the blessing of life and the shared humanity between neighbors near and far.

Even as we live in a fallen world, the Father still listens to us and makes the world turn and the seasons change and the sun rise and fall.

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.””
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31‬:‭8‬ ‭

Little behind the scenes from such a special day at the Arts & Wonder Festival!! ✨

So thankful to be a part of this amazing day celebrating the intersection of art & the Source of all art - the Lord!! 🤍

It was such a beautiful reminder that creativity is a gift from God and that every story, every song, and every person reflects a little piece of His goodness.

Feeling extra grateful for the community of creatives who love Jesus and want to use their gifts to glorify Him!! And so thankful for everyone who stopped by the Songs of Safety booth and came out to our first-ever Songwriters on Mission writers round!!

There is a song in every person, and we can’t wait to see what the Lord does with this dream!

Last Saturday the SOS family shared the sweetest night with @gardenhouse_recordingstudios. We shared missional songs written in bedrooms, in prisons, in various international regions, and in international languages.

Keep an eye out to hear these Songs of Safety and the stories behind them soon!

Big thanks to @thecookerynashville for graciously sharing your space with us! Hosting this event in a space that also turns art (the art of cooking) into mission was the cherry on top of a very special night.
