2 years.
2 years since I told you I’d totally waste your time, cause I wasn’t ready for a relationship.
2 years since you replied that we’d just make the most of the time we would have together.
You were present, you were steady. Solid.
My chaos had been scaring everyone. It did not scare you.
2 years.
So much happened. And, let’s be real: not all rainbows and butterflies. We went through a whole lot, fighting each other at times. Fighting for each other, always.
I think the most subtle yet revolutionary thing that has happened in these 2 years is that, for the first time in my life, with you by my side I started picturing a future.
I was never able to do that before, to imagine where or who or what or when I’d be. And I was totally fine with that: it was all I knew. I was good at that.
And I still don’t know where or who or what or when I’m gonna be anything, but you know what’s the difference now?
The difference is that I know you’ll be with me through all of it, and we will be holding our son’s hand. And that’s more of my future I’ve ever known.
