Take The Bridge: The Finale 🌉🏃🏻‍♀️

8 years. 4 races run. 2 races volunteered. (Old pics at the end).

The first time I ran Take The Bridge was in 2018 when Krankin decided I’d have a good time and went ahead and signed me up. I’d never raced to beat anyone but myself, and these races are the only time I’ve ever raced for competition. I’m sad to see them ending but I’m so grateful for those rare opportunities I got to break out of the middle of the pack and run so hard I puke in the bushes.

Congratulations to the @takethebridge team on 11 incredible years! 🥂

📸: @kristinawilliamson_ for sure, and sadly some others I’ve lost track of over the years

Today was a reminder of how much there is to be grateful for in this city — especially the people & communities that make New York home. 🗽 Thank you Shannon for leading us along this intentional route & the moment of silence today on this 25th remembrance of 9/11. ❤️

Some clients really do become family. 🥹🐾💗

A huge thank you to Mia & Lauren for making my 30th birthday even more special! 🎂✨ The thoughtful birthday surprises, sweet treats, and handwritten card truly meant so much to me. 🥹💕
And of course, getting to celebrate while spending time with Maverick & Remy was the BEST bonus! 🐶💗🐶💙 My birthday was made even sweeter having these two by my side.

I’m so grateful for clients who show so much love and appreciation….not just for the care I give their pups, but for me. Thank you for making me feel so celebrated! 🥰

30 is already off to a beautiful start. ✨🐾

Today was our PRIDE run led by JP, Mia and Seth.

But, first we welcomed Trinisha Williams, president and founder of Haven Midwifery Collective, to speak about a 5k she is organizing for September in Prospect Park. Open to runners, walkers and all ages, proceeds will go toward opening a midwifery led birthing center here in Brooklyn.

Trinisha’s words are below and JP, Mia and Seth’s words follows.

Haven Midwifery Collective believes in creating a space that meets the needs for all birthing people, through BIPOC health providers, education and safe options for all birthing journeys. Every family deserves safe, compassionate and empowering maternity care, birth equity is about making that a reality for everyone, not a privileged few.

For info to sign up, volunteer or learn more, follow @havenmidwiferycollective

Pride is Resistance.

Today we commemorated living open lives in our community. From the Brooklyn history of the Abolitionist Park by Joy Chantel to the poetry of Walt Whitman.

Thank you for showing up today and every time you lace up for our Define family, for the queer community, for the trans community, and for yourself. We’re glad you’re here.

Pride is a resistance and a riot.

Community over Everything! Point. Blank. Period.

I’m an adult onset runner- I found running in 2020 and it has since become an absolutely essential part of my life. I love running for its mental and physical benefits, but also because of the social and community aspect. I run with my husband, I run with my kids, I run with m best friends, and I run with my community. Happy Global Run Day! Come run with me anytime!

Strength is not designated to physical attributes. It also comes in the form of kindness, emotional vulnerability, moral and mental prowess, persistence, and resilience.

Just a few thoughts that came to me in the quiet calm of the evening. It's nothing new or earth shattering, but a simple reminder of how precious life can be to the ones who acknowledge and appreciate the strength of a woman.
