Designing games at the Maryland Institute College of Art
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
In our game design workshops and talks, we discuss holistic game design—the act of planning out game design, art, music, and storytelling together as a cohesive unit, so that everything is created to reinforce a unified playing experience! 🤝 Well, did you know that was our philosophy for building Boba Studios as a business as well? 💡 Even when we were students still at @marylandinstitutecollegeofart, planning Boba Studios as a business took just as much planning as Squirrely Roo Rabbit the game. With these pieces created in tandem, the building blocks of our studio were built with a sustainable creative practice in mind so we could keep creating in the future! This meant our (pictured) thesis presentation included a brand reveal and writing our first business plan! 🎨📝 #SmallBusiness #StartUp #Entrepreneurship #FemaleEntrepreneurship #WomenInTech

On this day 10 years ago, we sat in on our first day of thesis class in the only game design classroom on @marylandinstitutecollegeofart's campus. We had been trying all summer to get our project going early, but nothing had stuck. On this day 10 years ago, all the pieces fell into place in one @micagamelab class period, and the game Squirrely Roo Rabbit was born! 🐿🦘🐇 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SQUIRRELY ROO! 🎂💝🎈 Come back each day this week as we share fun facts & memories about our beginnings and the year that changed our lives! 🥳 ♡Ash & Kyrstin #IndieGame #GameDev #MadeWithUnity #MICAmade #WomenInGames

Just 12 hours left to back Batara: Fate Unbounded on Kickstarter! We've been watching this beautiful, Indonesian-inspired indie game come up from the beginning. @unfatedstudios, the team behind Batara, started out the same way we did in the @micagamelab, and we've been so proud watching them grow! 🥹 Roofi, Hugo, and Toby, congratulations! You're doing it! 🥳 We love how the devs are bringing to life a piece of home through the story and art! If you're ready to dive deep into Indonesian lore and aesthetics (I know we are!), help us bring Batara to life! 🙌 #Kickstarter #KickstarterCampaign #IndieGame #GameDev #MICAmade
