Music-making, not music-watching!

There are lots of music classes for young children. So what makes Tam Tam different?

At Tam Tam, your child doesn't come to watch a teacher perform. You come to make music together.

You sing.

You dance.

You shake, tap, drum, and play.

You listen.

You respond.

You make up your own movements and sounds.

And your child sees something incredibly important:
Music is something we DO -- not something we watch other people do.

Young children learn music through immersion, repetition, movement, exploration, and the example of the people they love. That's why grownup participation isn't just encouraged at Tam Tam. It's part of the experience. ❤️

No performance pressure.
No need to "be musical."
No perfect singing required.
No sitting on the sidelines.

Just real voices, real instruments, whole-body participation, and a room full of children and grownups making music together.

Because we believe every child is musical—and that making music together is one of the simplest, most joyful ways to connect.

Come make music with us.

Hello, Fall!

Tomorrow we’re back to making music together, and we couldn’t be more excited!

New songs. Familiar faces. New friends. We'll shake shakers, stomp our feet, sing, wiggle, and find our own ways to join the music train.

Here’s to a new season of making music together!

SUN STORY on August 22 in Bed Stuy was a beautiful culmination of forward movement. We have seen the collapse of the ego into a group ego, and the group ego developing strength in its ability to face opponents of might and skill. The gathering brought us closer to the basic truth that no one is free until we are all free. No one can enjoy the spotlight while others are dying in the darkness. No one musician can experience the ecstasy of sound without the accord and willingness of listeners, and ultimately the participation of the listeners as creators themselves.

Creators are not meant to define. Creators are meant to create. Create opportunity for reflection, action, and forgiveness— create like the Creator creates, with utmost mercy and grace and patience.

May we continue to enjoy the heat of the moment with focus, strength, and acceptance of the seasons of life.

If we are in the time of galloping through battle, and if we are ready to come together in will power and resolution, then we must allow for that wave to wash over us and move us into the next world.

—
Special thanks to all who participated with their essence and to those who continue to bring to action to the word “community.”

We’re excited to announce Bed Stuy‘s own Maker‘s Space is taking over @micentrobk for the rest of the summer 🌈😎☀️

Vichitra aims to raise BIPOC, queer and trans voices in a time where our voices are being stifled. 💪🏼🏳️‍🌈⚡️We will continue to have oodles of good times and make sweet memories long after Pride Month has ended!

We hope to connect fellow queer makers and artists looking for a safe third space to unleash their creativity 🎨🫟🖌️

Check out what wondrous projects you can dig your hands into at Vichitra this summer ✨👉🏼✨

The space will be open to the public from M-F, 2-6pm for creatives looking for a place to complete their latest projects —from 3D printers, laser printers, CNC machines, we‘ve got a myriad of tools and supplies for community use 🤩

Keep an eye out on our calendar (🔗 in bio) for weekend clothing&gear exchange events, craft supply trading stations where you can trade supplies with fellow artists, and craft&yap sessions calendar 🗓️

Starting at 6:30pm on Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we‘ll have workshops for folks interested in learning a new skill or creatives looking to pick up an old hobby 💪🏼⚡️🔨

Equity centered ticketing available for those financially struggling. Pay-it-forward tickets exist for those who are financially capable of helping out fellow community members 💞 Donations are greatly appreciated! Please see our website for more info 👀
