Well I did a thing in March 🤣 I hit the stage at Rivertown Theatre with an amazing group of folks and I’m so glad I did. To my #ASU cast and crew I thank you for welcoming me and having a time with me hunty. Can’t wait to do it again in November!!! 🎉❤️🎭 My daughter and niece got to see me on stage again after quite some time and I’m glad they had a time. So much fun on and off stage yall don’t even know the half and ya know I’m late with everything even posting 🤣 especially with posting 😹

Finally had a moment to reflect on this one!!

What a gem of a show. I got to live all my dance ensemble dreams and sing my heart out to some gorgeous, fun music! Gary, Belle, Michael…truly the dream team. To the cast and crew, this show wouldn’t have been what it was without you! From the bottom of my heart you are forever my family ☺️ Until we all meet again 😘

there are truly no words. i’ve put off this post for a while because i didn’t want to let this show go. but all good things must come to an end. this show was the most rewarding and hardest experience in my life. i know i’ve said that about three separate times for other roles, but this one is certainly up there. 💛🎸🏍️

it truly took everything in me to lead this show every night and power through the vocal fatigue, strain, and restlessness. but we did it! and we did a dang good job! this show was absolutely spectacular, and i had the most amazing cast any man could ever dream of. this was truly an unforgettable experience. i’ll forever hold this one close to my heart. 💜☺️

once again a massive thank you to Gary, Belle, the production team, the entire stage crew, my cast mates, and everyone involved. you made this show absolutely stellar. ✨‼️

Happy belated World Theatre Day- the perfect way to say goodbye to All Shook Up! It had been 5 years since I’d been in a production, and when I started, I wasn’t sure if it was for me anymore. It had been so long. I was full of anxiety and uncertainty about returning to the stage as an adult. Would it feel the same way? The answer is no. It felt even better! I’m so grateful to this show for reawakening the theatre kid in me (you know she never left) and reminding me why I love performing. I have reconnected with so many parts of myself over the past few months and made so many new friends along the way. You can’t turn back time, but you can gain so much from engaging with the kid that’s still in you- and there is no better way to do that than theatre. Thank you to the many friends and family (pictured and unpictured) who showed up to support me in this moment. My life is what it is because I get to share it with all of you!

Meet MICHAEL Civitano (Dean/Music Director) is thrilled to return to the Rivertown stage! Michael was last seen in Rivertown’s production of Gypsy as a Newsboy (LA) / Music Director. You may also have seen Michael in Assassins (Balladeer/Oswald), Once Upon A Mattress (Minstrel), or in the ensembles of Best Little Whorehouse... , A Funny Thing... , Sister Act, and Mary Poppins at Rivertown. Michael is a full-time performer, arts educator, music director, and private voice instructor of 40 students. Receiving his BA in Theatre & Business from Muhlenberg College and his Certificate of Physical Theatre from The Accademia Dell’arte in Arezzo, Italy, Michael has been performing both professionally and recreationally for 25+ years. In 2021, he transitioned from the big apple to the big easy to attend UNO’s School of the Arts (SOTA), wherein Michael earned his MFA with Highest Distinction for his graduate thesis on Vocal Anatomy & Pedagogy. His research has since been published to several academic databases including ProQuest, ScholarWorks, ResearchGate, and the Nat’l University Library Repository. Most recently, Michael Ast. Music Directed Into the Woods at Brother Martin High School, serves as Vocal Director for Church of the King’s Southshore campus, and conducts theatre/vocal workshops online and in-person throughout the GNO and NY areas. When not performing, Michael enjoys the outdoors, his Nonni’s homemade Italian cooking, and quality time with his friends & family. Other Credits Include: Romeo & Juliet (Romeo), Spelling Bee (Chip Tolentino), Grease (Danny Zuko), Little Shop of Horrors (Seymour), Godspell (Dir./Music Dir.), Pirates of Penzance (Policeman), and more.
