During @agavemarfa, June 5-8 @alratitostudio will be having a show at Do Right, thanks to @wrongmarfa - In the heart of the desert, the agave endures — a quiet force of beauty and resilience. This exhibition draws on its mythic symbolism, exploring themes of transformation, protection, and rebirth. Like the goddess Mayahuel, who reawakened as an agave plant, each piece channels evolution through form, texture, and color. With sculptural works that echo fibrous strength, the show invites reflection on cycles of growth and the power of patience. Versatile and vital, the agave becomes a lens for design that blurs the line between art and function.

Have you ever walked away from meeting someone, knowing it was more than coincidence? - This is Michael. Read the rest for Story Time.

This series was taken late last September aboard the first ferry of the day to Campbell River, Vancouver Island. I was on hour 26 of no sleep, furiously editing and packing the night before to leave the house at 4am to make the first ferry, so I was slightly delirious. I was heading out to shoot a wedding, and my onboard routine was the same as always: park the car, loop the ship with my camera, and hope to spot a whale before docking.

That morning started just like that. I walked the decks a couple of times, breathing in the cold, crisp air as the sun climbed over the horizon. Eventually, I made my way back toward the car. On this ferry, unlike others I’d been on, you could walk all the way to the back railing for an unobstructed view of the water. That’s where I met Michael. @michael_toolan

Following the glow of the sunrise, I wove between the cars toward the back of the ship when I heard someone call out, “What camera you shooting there?” I glanced over and saw a man sitting in his car, parked at the very edge of the ferry. I told him, #fujix100v.

It’s a question I get often—strangers connecting over photography. Usually, it’s a polite chat with hobbyists asking what I do, showing me their photos, or asking what gear they should buy, and I do my best not to cringe as I politely respond. But this time? This was different.

Michael turned out to be a fellow professional photographer. Originally from Canada, he’s now based in Mexico City as a commercial photographer. Suddenly, I was the one geeking out, asking all the questions, and soaking in his perspective.

As we talked, I shared my goals of shooting more commercial projects in the coming year. I told him how inspiring it was to meet someone whose work I genuinely admired, and how much that moment meant to me.

Foundation days at @111west57st: anchoring the tower around the existing Steinway building. The design and construction process required intensive coordination and protection of the landmark. The foundations of 111 West 57th consist of concrete mat and footing foundations with thicknesses ranging from 6 feet to 13 feet founded on a medium to hard 60 tons-per-square-foot rock. Close to 200 Rock anchors/tie-downs were placed for the new tower.#JDSBuilds
