It’s been a year since @tonyfitzpatrick9 left us and not a day goes by that I don’t think about him. To say that Tony was an incredible human being would be an understatement. His generosity was downright overwhelming at times. He brought people together like no one I’ve ever met. He was fiercely loyal to those closest to him and went out of his way to support those around him always. Tony would have loved knowing that his family and friends got together tonight to laugh, cry and tell hilarious stories in his honor. There’ll never be another Tony Fitzpatrick.

NEW SPRING MENU this week courtesy of our very own estimable culinarian @seaghosts !! New menu art from the late, great @tonyfitzpatrick9 This was the original artwork Tony designed for our menus. I procrastinated and forgot how short and valuable life is. I hope that enormous pain in the ass is up there somewhere smiling. He was this restaurant’s best friend. Missing the big guy a lot lately. Bobby gets a bad rap, mostly because he is so annoying and is such a miserable curmudgeon. However, Bob is one of the finest old timey shoe leather reporters around. Regularly featured page one of The New York Times and often in our very own Chicago Sun-Times. (I am frankly surprised he ever made it through the front door of the building without quickly being escorted from the premises but what do I know?) Bob’s frequent feuding with the late, great Tony Fitzpatrick was utterly hilarious at times. Bob really got under Tony’s skin and I could never understand why. I just ignored Bob when he’d bash our beloved White Sox with his dim-witted humor. But it dawned on me recently that Tony truly loved Bob no matter how irritating he was. And, incidentally, Bob wrote that resolution and nailed it. So heres to you Bob! I will never break my promise to our dearly beloved deceased friend and stop busting your chops but we all still love you no matter how hard you make it for us! #peanutparktrattoria #littleitaly

A Bird for Tony Fitzpatrick.

Due to proximity I was not able to stop by Tony Fitzpatrick’s studio for his Irish Shiva to pay my respects for his life and work. So from a distance here is my remembrance in honor of him.

I marveled how he tight roped (often with no net) across disciplines without apology, artist, poet, actor, writer, pundit.

His collages, drawings and etchings were stitched from the fabric of Chicago: the streets, the people weaving a tale of its heartbreaks or its triumphs.

His musings, poems and columns had a distinct authentic Chicago voice, he wore it on his sleeve and told it like it was.

His art often featured birds, he once wrote his grandmother told him “For the price of a piece of bread you can hear God sing.”

May his spirit fly on the wings of the birds he loved.

May he be gifted the audible of that divine song.

Michelle, Gaby and Max my deepest condolences and sympathies on your loss.

Peace, comfort and love to you and yours.

PS Tony would occasionally sit aside his studio to “absorb” Chicago but I think it was primarily to meet neighborhood dogs so feel free to stop by this mural with your pup and snap a photo and reflect on Tony’s work and art.

Inconsolable about the passing of Tony Fitzpatrick. What an amazing man and artist. My thoughts are with his family. This picture was taken on my last night in Chicago many years ago. This would be the last time I saw Tony. Hope you’re having a blast where you are my friend. X

More and more it seems, certain people love to disparage Chicago and us Chicagoans. I’m here to tell you that it’s one of the greatest cities on the planet with some of the greatest people and anyone who disagrees can, as my recently deceased friend Tony Fitzpatrick would say; “Hit the fuckin’ bricks Chooch..” If you love this city as much as Tony Fitzpatrick did, you’re my kind of person already. Happy Chicago Marathon Day Everyone

✨2024 was a year of many things:

• Celebration; Relic Design turned 10 years old! 🥳🎉

• Creativity and inspiration; we completed design projects, and started new ones we absolutely love! Stay tuned for some big reveals in the New Year! 🙌

•Bittersweet moments with the loss of my beloved Dad and sister.

•Exploration; we explored our Greek roots in Europe, connected with design friends in New York, Dallas, Santa Fe, and Mexico, and marveled at the beauty of each place we visited! 🌎

•And last but not least! Connection; we were so fortunate to connect with wonderful clients and friends both new and old this past year starting new friendships, creative collaborations, and projects!

We can’t wait to see what 2025 brings! Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year! 🎊
